Between the Buried and Me, amazing band both in the studio and live. If you dig Dillinger Escape Plan / Mathcore / Old School Punk, check out my buddy Barn's band The Armed. All their music is free, download it and spread the word if you dig it. They usually owe more in damages to the venue than they get paid for the gig. |

Nice, i'm not usually a big mathcore fan,but these guys are pretty badass, will definitively be following them :) |

O dont want to be "that guy" but, of all of that I would clasify only tool, some ramm albums and slip's first album. SOD its more like heavy rock, good one on that but rock.
My suggestions: Testament, Blind Guardian, Judas Priest, Venom, early Therion, early Trivium, Eluveite, Children of Bodom, Lucca Turilli and Dream Theather. Those should be good bases to cover several genres of metal that are worth listening IMO |

If you like technical death metal I would suggest The faceless, Spawn of Possession, Allegaeon, or The zenith Passage. Some great melodic death metal bands are The Absence, Bloodbath, Ouroboros, Soreption, and Amon Amarth. Hope you guys like at least one of these bands! |

I'm REALLY enjoying the quality of metal Australia is pumping out right now. I'm particularly excited for Device. I have been a fan of Disturbed and David Draiman for years. Can't wait to see what that fuckin' beast can do with Device, not to mention the fact Matt Shadow and lzzy hale are going to be featured on there, along with a bunch of others. Disarming the descent looks like it will kick ass. It's great you guys are letting the suggestions rain. Started following several new bands. Hopefully other metalheads have as well. \m/ |

I don't listen to much metal, I'm mostly a Country music and Bluegrass kinda guy but every once in awhile I listen to Five Finger Death Punch because most of there songs are targeted towards Veterans like myself. There last 2 albums were dedicated to veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars in particular a friend of the lead singer who commited suicide after returning from Afghanistan. |

Much respect too you man, Thats a big reason why i love metal. they are always ready to bring up social and political issues, even if people hate on them for it. metal bands really reach out to their fans and show support. \m/_(*-*)_\m/ |
