Basically, it's when just one person points out something is UP or OP and suddenly fifty other people make their own duplicate topics to jump on the bandwagon. Take heavies for example, two weeks ago there was zero talk about the heavy suit itself, all the talk was about the HMG being OP. (which people still hold is true, but somehow the suit is still UP at the same time)
Some of you may be saying right now, "maybe if everybody starts complaining about something at the same time, it's because something was changed, and now it's UP/OP, smartass." Well, then take shield extenders for an example then. To the best of my knowledge (please correct me if I'm wrong) nothing has been changed with shield extenders for as long as I've played this game. (since Replication) Suddenly ONE guy points out that they think extenders are overpowered and now half of the player base is agreeing, but nothing has changed.
I'm just making this thread to say if someone else had to point out something before you noticed it, it wasn't that big of an issue, and therefore not that high on the list of things to fix. /rant |

Since they lack the ability to generate their own thoughts they naturally latch on to anything that someone else put's forward. Plus no one wants to be the first one to do or say anything.

I'm famous! (That was me, right?)
Honestly though, I think it's just the age-old bandwagon problem. You have a few people thinking for themselves, trying to figure out how to do something well. Once word gets out, everyone and their mother starts doing it. Once you start seeing it everywhere, people start complaining about it everywhere.
EVE called it the good ol' Flavor Of The MonthGäó.
With all my number crunching and fit-fiddling, these are the only things I've come to believe are truly, demonstrably over-powered or under-powered at the moment:
OVERPOWERED:
Nothing. Seriously. Nothing.
Not Damage Mods, not shield extenders, not Heavies, not proto Assaults, not Tanks, not shotguns, not HMGs, not ARs, not sniper rifles, not lasers.
Nothing.
UNDERPOWERED:
Dropships. Nova Knives.
Everything else is either fine, or could be adjusted a bit one way or another with a few tweaks. Nothing needs a serious nerf, and only a handful of things could use a minor buff.

So an AR support skills are all 2x VERSUS heavy weapons HMG/Forgun 3x is hard to understand??[:roll
It means that after two months the AR user can max several AR related skills and the heavy weapon user CAN NOT!! max the same number of heavy weapon skills.
AR four million versus Heavy HMG/Forgegun needing SIX MILLION. Thats UNBALANCED. Geez simple math FTW |

Good. I noticed all the heavy related problems an hour after the build reset but I did not post endless threads about the heavy is screwed in the SP department for heavy weapons skills at 3X, the heavy is UP in protosuits, the heavy is UP since it costs too much for heavy suits or weapons.
Thats why all my SP is going for Scout/SMG/core skills since the heavy skill tree of suits/mods/weapons got the nerf bat without even the decency of a lube.
And sorry I ranted at ya since I TL, DR and decided(too late) that your thread was about bandwagooneers. Sorry. |

Can i just point out something
heavy's are slow but that have lots of Armour assault is fast but they have lots of shields
this is the basic argument i believe at this point
but when you do the numbers you can't shield rep so this makes assaults a solo tank but a heavy can get a logi and be worth a lot more since he probs has at least 400 Armour and this is a bigger buffer than the small 100 Armour a assault has more solo play orientation
so when team play does come into it assaults will be mostly outclassed i think |

Yea, but for every logi you have healing you, that's one less gun that you have focus firing your enemies

Well at that point you'd need 2 logis doing that, and even then, I'm inclined to say the DPS of 4 Duvolles will definitely outpace two logi reps and maybe an armor rep or two (4-10 hp per sec is lol inside of combat). Also remember that Assault suits are much more mobile and have smaller hitboxes, so even with two HMGs trained on a single target, if they're descent (proto gear assumed, since you mentioned proto reps), you're going to have a hard time tracking them.
Also, range is a non issue for AR users at this point, since sharpshooter allows them to engage even snipers at a surprising range. Their DPS is tightly focused unlike the HMG, allowing for better results when focus firing. Being able to move around and dictate the engagements thanks to heavies having to waddle everywhere, this ensures a well practiced squad of AR users will rarely fall to your suggest Heavy / Logi squad, unless caught unaware.
It's a nice thought, having logi's repping a heavy, and one I was very interested in at first, but over time it seems that what works on paper doesn't always work when applied |

I believe he was referring to the fact that the Proto rep tool will allow you to repair 2 players at once. So in thoery one logi could rep two heavies at the same time. The problem is that the full 75hp a sec repair cant keep up with the DPS from one duvolle much less 4. When you use the tool to rep 2 players at the same time you split the 75hp a sec in half resulting in each heavy only getting a 37.5 hp a sec rep.
DUST Fiend wrote:It's a nice thought, having logi's repping a heavy, and one I was very interested in at first, but over time it seems that what works on paper doesn't always work when applied
The rep tool is a handy item to have around but your better off in most cases assisting the heavy with the kill and repping afterwards. Especially if its just you and a heavy versus 2 or more AR's...etc.

you don't NEED two logi's you just need to use your brain x-x jesus it takes half a brain to know not to stand still when your being shot
it take the other half to know hey don't repair some one who is full hp it may be pvp but people still take agro and people do get focused even if they don't and its 3v1 the logi can rep one of the heavy's one hope the other one takes one down before he dies
and arnt there logi tools that allow you to repair 2 people at once ? |

True, but hopefully the Heavies wouldn't just be sitting there. 3x MH-85 HMGs have about the same DPS as 4x Duvolle ARs...

True, 3 heavies that work well together and a Logi-bro that can utilize the Logi arsenal effectively will most likely come out on top of any scenario! But this is almost unheard of and the same could be said for 4 assaults working together.
Ive been in a squad with 2 heavies on occasion never 3. Even at that 2 heavies and a Logi are extremely effective in most cases if they are organized!
Was just pointing out that a Logi that thinks he is going to set back and rack up rep points behind a heavy is usually a dead Logi. |
