First sorry if this is a long read. Its just this is my future in dust514 so if anyone is interested in giving me a hand it would be really appreciated.... Well even if i started playing as a Heavy, the reduced effectiveness of these dropsuits has made me a little impatient not to mention severly damaged my K/D ratio and ISK income. So i decided to try other ways of earning my ISK as a mercenary. I looked into several Dropsuit / weapon combinations and i finally decided Explosives is the way to go for me.After being able to kill squads of 4 proto armors with some smart luring + explosive setting, or destroying tanks with just grenades and mines I really think a explosive expert has no limits in what he can do..... Earning 2-6 kills each time i trigger them,is just so sweet. But here is the doubt i need help with.
I have 2 vesions, and i need to know what more experienced players think it would be more effective to improve and invest my Skillpoints/ISK in=
Logi Explosives=
With 3+ Equipment slots and massive CPU it pretty obvious why this was my first choice. -I can equip 2 remote explosives + Nanohives for restock, making it easy deploying 4 Explosives per run. -I can equip 1 remote explosive + 1 Poximity mines(AV) + Nanohives and AV grenade, making this a decent strategical AV Loadout. -The high powered and low powered module slots as per Type A - B is 3 of each. MAking the customization options pretty high. -And in the weapons slot a Burst assault rifle, that is my favourite weapon besides HMGs.
LOGI XPLODE: Advantages: -High CPU -Lots of slots for customization -Lots of equipment slots making single run deployments of remote explosives more effective. -Good chances of survival in Firefights due to healing nanohives and High Shield extenders/Armor plates that can be equipped. -Logi Suits look the best.Admit it people.....
Disadvantages: -Pretty slow TBQH. ''Mining'' and area and then clearing the place has been a little hard specially if i have enemies incoming after i finish setting the Xplosives. Suicide bombing is very common in these situations XD -I could make the Logi Armor FASTER with modules. But i would sacrifice HP/Shield. -Dropsuit ''Hitbox'' is almost as big as the HEAVY armor. -Everybody thinks im a healer and im not.
Scout Explosives= The Scout Type - II is also another option for this type of job.
-One Light weapon slot for my Burst AR -2 Slots for Remote Xplosives and nanohives is more than enough. -Speedy F****ers are hard to kill if used correctly.
SCOUT XPLODE: Advantages: -Speedy.Making it reaching different points of the map more effective.Plus ''mining'' and area and leaving is easier. -Low Dropsuit scan profile. -With a slot for Remote explosives and one for nanohives is just enough for what im looking for. -Very fast shield recovery, making those plant and runaway strategies very effective.
Disadvantages: -Low HP. I can fight mostly on 1v1 fights or with team support. -LOW CPU. Making creating each fitting pretty annoying. -2 Equipment slots is BARELY what i need, but leaves me little options.(I can only carry or remote explosives OR proximity mines, or both and depend on a supply dep.) -People like hunting down scouts because a decent player with some skill and a GEK can ravage through them= Easy kills.
So, i like BOTH types of loadouts but can only afford to perfect one at the moment. What do FORUM people and advanced players think?
Thanks again for your time. |

Hmm thanks i'll take that into consideration.
Its good advice i guess with the massive CPU and slots the Logi IS the best way to go. But the speed that the scout has has proven to be quite effective. Yesterday i walked behind a couple of squads that where shooting down some friendlies, so i set a couple of remote explosives, shot one of them down and started running.Of course the enraged mob stareted following me and i triggered the explosives getting 4 more kills. Thats 5 out of 8 and i still got away. This is the main reason i was having doubts about which armor to use. Speed, even with all the disadvantages is always a Massive plus.
Thanks again for your opinion. It really helps. |

Centurion mkII wrote:I have to concur logi is your best bet IMO. You can lower your profile with drop suit command and profile dampener (skill ) You can also train vigor to run longer.
Thanks again . That makes Logi 2 - Scout 0 at the moment XD
Of course i could lower the pofile and increase vigor for the stamina, but hey! remember those skills could be used for something else if i used the scout!
S***, i guess the scout type 2 was just a bad idea then XD |

Well thats what im saying. Just setting Remotes at say: Objective ''B'' its brainless and unproductive.Just to get 1 easy kill , thats not the way to go LOL.
I do however Use the Burst AR as med/long ranged combat but close combat i do use Remote Xplosives a lot. Bait and run is a great strategy.
Also Area control is very important, after a while playing Dust54,you already know where chokepoints , or travel paths people take, setting explosives there can grant you a lot of kills.
Even if most people say that Logi is the way to go ( and i agree it IS the logic way to go) , im very tempted to try out the scout type II because of the speed and Shield regen. Logi just doesnt have the necesary speed to clear an area and im not planning in actually using my Asault rifle in CQ situations.... But im still doubtfull XD I think: What if i get Scout Type - B and then regret it? same as when i played heavy? All those SP lost u.u |

Val'herik Dorn wrote:Remote explosives have sevearl uses.
Area denial (skirmish) plant sthose suck rs in a hidden spot by the objective boom at least one or more persons can't hack it.
Area denial (ambush) requires more thought but if you learn the maps and get to know the spots you can drop them in nice patterns where people are likely to congregate. (Tear harvesting at its finest)
Av the proxy mines are great onc you learn. How to trap vehicles with them. (All types)
Self defense if you place them at choke points near your position you could theoretically block travel through an area.
There are more im sur but these are my favorites. Also remember eventualluly we are according to the text of the res be able to set off one at a time instead of all or nothing. Which opens up more possibilities for use.
WAIT, you can trigger them 1 by 1? I didn't know that.... Would you care to explain how? or not yet? or are those a different tipe of Remote Exp?
I still need tolearn how to do this correctly XD ''Av the proxy mines are great onc you learn. How to trap vehicles with them. '' |

NICE, will do that then.
I think that if you could activate remotes individually would be great. Like You press the button. Then the 1st one you set explodes. Hit again, then the 2nd one goes off, and so on. That could work and wouldnt be overly complicated.
BTW the advice on remote xplosives is great.
But any suggestions as in Dropsuits for them?
Whats what most people use when using remotes explosives? Whats the metagame?
(So i can choose the opposite XD) |

Thanks everyone for your contributions. They all helped in a way or another.
I'm sorry to admit that I'm one stubborn bastard, so i decided to go with SCOUT.Even if the logic option is using LOGI suits.
I just find the speed that scouts have PLUS the fast shield recovery/recovery rate way too useful for my purposes.
Here goes the ''prototype'' I'm using. If it starts failing I'll go back to trying the ''EXPLOSIVE EXPERT LOAD OUT'' with LOGI . (Of course is not the BEST it can be yet,but im trying it out to see if i stay with this drop suit path before perfecting Modules, getting better weapons etc....)=
Scout Type II
Burst AR Nano-hive Remote explosive Shield Extender 33HP Armor plates Armor repair 3HP/sec
As the moment i have up to Type - II Of Heavy , Logi and scout so i might as well try it.I must admit that the results are , astonishing. Games 25+/5- are getting way to common with shoot and run strategies with Remote explosives. I'm good even at shootouts where i can dish out decent damage with my burst AR and take cover. Rinse and repeat and i end up using 500+hp (in regenerated shields) plus covering choke points+ objectives with Remotes explosives is WAY easier with the speed the scouts have.
I will stick with this load out for a while and then decide If I really prefer High shield regen + Speed vs High CPU+item carriage+ customization. (The thing that REALLY has me worried is the VERY LOW CPU that scout drop suits carry, as in will i be able to carry the SAME i drop suit modules i have but COMPLEX? + better explosives and maybe a ADVANCED Burst AR? or will i run out of CPU and have wasted a ton of SP?)
Anyone knows if there is some kind of ''character creator'' for dust i can maybe use to predict my future? XD |

Well i used to play Heavy so i have field Mechanics at level IV ,That should work... >..>
Thanks for the advice i actually never thought of it XD.
I guess i would have CPU for everything i need PLUS i wouldn't drop my speed either. Kind OF scared thou loosing those 80something of HP : / Sometimes i barely make it our of Cross fires. Guess I'll have to start taking more cover and shooting less hahahahaha. |
