Friendly fire is coming, its confirmed, and I think its a good thing as long as its handled properly.
When friendly fire comes, players who kill 5 or more of their teammates within 10 minutes should be marked as a yellow dot to their teammates to signify they are an enemy infiltrator; makes sense that the TacNet system would track this, and respond to it accordingly to warn others on the team.
There should a -50 WP penalty for killing a teammate, but there should be no penalty for teamkilling the yellow-marked players.
The amount of total team-kills, and the amount of times one has been marked should be recorded in the stats as well.
Being labeled as an infiltrator should only last the duration of the battle. There doesn't need to be any more penalties.
This would be good for making saboteurs and infiltrators working for the other team to be very tactical and selective about who and when to team-kill. This will also force them to be more creative with their methods of hindering the infiltrated team; there are other ways to harm your team besides team-killing. |

Acceptable, but there still needs to be more. Those marked as traitors should not be able to respawn without the commander's permission (in case it really was an accident, the commander can remove the traitor status), and killing them should incur no penalty. |

This idea is acceptable.
But who's TACNET, will support them?
Recommend they be moved to the enemy TACNET (placed under the opposite side's clone support) if they are an identified hostile that is meant to be an infiltrator, and a new player be loaded in to fill that spot.
However, this would raise possible issues with player team numbers. If we can't make the current amount of players allowed into a pub match a soft cap, in order to allow for infiltrator switching, then I can't see this being viable there.
We'd have to go for a basic system where TACNET cuts support for a TK'er and he is kicked from match upon his death.
I see your idea being employed in null-sec matches however... |

lol I can't wait for you to be a yellow dot too!
Hope we get 10x standard WP for killing you yellow dots, and an automatic isk bounty equal to all the gear you have on. :) If you have anything of value of course. |

HI! Its you from the escapist livestream! I really enjoyed watching you guys play since you guys genuinely seemed eager to learn, you guys seem to really appreciate what the game is trying to do, and actually enjoy it.
I think you guys should post a feedback thread regarding your experiences with Dust, problems, ways it can improve, etc.
As for FF, there is suppose to be a matchmaking system that matches you with players of a similar skill level; I don't think its working correctly though. Anyway, Its pretty hard to accidentally kill 5 teammates in 10 minutes. |

Hi! I had a blast with the event and I'm still enjoying the game. I have a lot to learn but maybe I'll get better over time I suggested the feedback thread over at Escapist site, I think it's a good idea.
And yes, it does sound hard to kill 5 team mates in 10 minutes, seeing as how I can't even kill 5 enemies in that time, but I'm just worried accidentally doing something horrific and being painted "traitor". The matchmaking is not optimal at the moment. At all. Most skirmishes are pretty unbalanced and since the Escapist corp is quite empty at the moment, I'm forced to run solo. Pretty hard trying to find blue dots and follow them. And I'm not even sure if people like me following them. Probably not....

If you need a squad there are chat channels that can help you out, i think there's one called "LFSquad" for people like yourself who don't have a squad, also most of the major corps have public chat channels you can drop into and look to squad up with people, feel free to swing by the lotis one "L.O.T.I.S."
And yeah the matchmaking's crap, it's just as boring completely dominating a team of blue dots as it is getting dominated. I have to say that lately I've been seeing more corp squads just screw around in matches when there's no decent opposition, that's how boring pubstomping can get. |

just saw this topic and wanted to get it back on the rails as this would be great,
what i think would be a great addition is if a marked player repeats his crime once more he is removed not from the match, but from the team... meaning both teams... essentially putting himself on his own team, where he can regain WP from any and all subsequent kills but is a valuable red dot to everyone else in the match, even other traitors. there could be a vote between squad leaders on joining the traitor to their side mid-battle.
another cool thing would be if not only the longer the renegade survives the higher the bounty becomes for taking them out, but if the player survived the match the bounty continued into the next game and continued to increase with every offense until made dead. there could be a maximum bounty leaderboard that certain corps might want to take a risk and attempt to recruit from and plus some more bragging rights for players that want to be infamous.
i guess there are a million and one roads one could take with all this, just splurting out a few.
in FW it could be cool to have the feeling at the end of a game after going on a rampage that you have been paid by an outside observer that noticed your handy work and rewarded you. i can see this in FW perhaps giving LP from a faction that was not involved in the battle itself, and you can collect these points if you switch sides (although tbh i have no idea how LPs work or even FW for that matter!).

I don't think team killers should be in public matches, it would just end being aggravating more than anything else as they are randomly thrown together matches. However if there matches where you could be more selective with your teams (such as a corp match) then there would be team killing and you would be marked as a yellow dot to both teams. If field commanders ever get implemented then it would be their job to both "yellow dot" the team killer or accept a team killer onto your team. This offers a risk/reward ability as you are sacrificing your current group (who would be stupid not to kick you) for acceptance of another (who might have paid you to infiltrate the corp and team kill). If such a thing were done though some kind of bounty system would need to be put in place although I'm not sure how it would work because as mercs we die too much to have any real value to a single death. Perhaps the "bounty" could be marker that everyone could see and all kills on said person would have a bonus to isk per death (fronted by the corp offering the bounty) and a bonus to war points for any of their own corp (or allied) who kills said person but any corpmate or allied corpmate would receive no such bonus. This way they are marked as a high priority target for everyone who wants extra isk or WP and they can't just go into a match and be killed by their allies for extra isk/WP. |

So where was this confirmed?
Also FF in pub matches would be a trainwreak of epic proportions, should only come up in corp matches/null sec and the like (where it would make most sense). But in regular matches where the people you killed in the last match, are now on your team in the current match, is a recipe for disaster and abuse.
Although I admit I do like the idea of somebody essentially becoming a target for both teams if they TK too much (with added rewards for killing them! For both teams!)
They could also be forbid from spawning with the team on droplinks or capture points, instead they get dropped in the map randomly like ambush, and both teams get an audible and brief mark on the map of where they spawned. Oh and another added negative is that their health is cut in half when they are in this state and their spawn timer is quadrupled (or more).
Another TK demotivating factor would be they could need a certain about of SP to be able to kill their own teammates (lets say 3 million SP), this way people just can't go and play on their day-old alt and ruin the experience of other legitimate players because they felt the urge.
With enough negatives for intentional TKing, people won't view it as a sport, but rather something to avoid (or as a smart saboteur move that is extremely rare and well-thought out). |

I heartily agree with the overall proposal, I am somewhat wary of the =50 WP however and here's why. It favors certain weapons over others and can be used by "friendly" blue dots to grief their teammates. Players using an HMG or Mass Driver for example could have blue dots repeatedly jump into their lines of fire using free suits costing them WP (meaning ISK and SP rewards) and eventually getting them flagged. At which point the "friendly" blue dots can kill the hapless player with impunity. This sort of action could be repeated essentially without limit shutting someone entirely out of a match.
Further for large or organized Corps this would become a mechanic through which they could both 'smear' the reputations of other players by having them consistently flagged as infiltrators, and suppress their character development by causing them to earn nothing for many of their matches.
Note: All of the above is only a functional concern if FF + this proposal is applied to High Sec/random battles. For all matches where teams are deployed as organized units I see no issues with the OP as presented and support it.

It is a good idea. I can see that turning into a game mode. There's is a contract out for someone to follow a player into a match that has repeated team kills. The -50 wp shouldn't be put in for team kills though. It may discourage the backstabbing nature of EVE |

I'm not too big on the idea of FF personally. However I also see how important of a mechanic this would be to the game.
TKing on the other hand ... might heavily discourage us noobs from the game entirely. One too many times now I've heard squad members vent at the uselessness of blue-dots and wish they could TK in order to show how angry they are to the player. As a LogiBro, my KDR is dismally low (however my lifetime WP is quite tasty) and there are a lot of times where I'm unknowingly in the way of the people I'm helping.
Of course ... this is a subjective opinion.
Objectively I see FF being greatly abused. There HAS to be more downsides to TKing besides being flagged as a Yellow-Dot and a -50WP penalty. I can see how both of those features would be handy. Since less WP means less rewards at the end of the match, and being marked differently makes you a target for others. But I still think there needs to be some "hidden" drawbacks to being a yellow.
Like perhaps reduced speed? A permanent lock out of Supply Depots and Nanohives. As a yellow dot, you'd have to hack and deploy your own equipment to use. Same deal with uplinks and vehicles.
There also has to be some kind of fail-safe for being TK'd. Naturally, since you've died, you loose your fitting. But maybe you'd get refunded in some way autumatically by the TK'er? Like for example, I kill a teammate wearing 50k worth of gear. For killing him, I get -50WP, let's say I've TK'd enough to become marked so now I'm a yellow dot, and also, to compensate my teammate for being a ****, I also loose a % of ISK based on the value of the suit I destroyed. At the end of the match, that ISK I've lost, is transferred to the victim as compensation for his suit. |
