Thank you!
Thanks. I had the same issue today on the same map but different location... The culprit was either in F4, or F5... floating again. I seem to get the floating issues.... maybe it's me?? |

Are they floating while on terrain every time or on some other form of object, like the big pointy rocks?
It seems to be on mountain tops and ridges entirely and my view is always through the sniper scope. I have yet to see this issue on solid level ground but I have indeed seen it at several different mountain locations this past month. Thanks for looking into it. |

Are they floating while on terrain every time or on some other form of object, like the big pointy rocks? From what I've observed, the terrain appears to look different looking up at the mountain from what it looks like when you're actually up there. Theres a couple of rocks that jut out that I've used to give myself cover which I can't seem to locate when looking at it... I've postulated that the hit detection issues in this scenario are related to the fact that shooters are actually hitting terrain and not the sniper, however as the terrain is transparent it looks like there is a floating sniper behind no cover. Just a thought. This might be an artifact of the Level Of Detail system. As you are further away from terrain and other objects, its level of detail goes down. So the other players and objects are on the collision of the full detail spots for them, but you are are seeing the low level of that detail, which will not always match up. I'll ask around about this, and see if it is intended that the LOD does not change when you view through a scope.
That makes perfect sense come to think of it, The view UP TO C6 [for example} through the scope is pretty basic, but when you're up there it has lots more bumps and jutting rocks. I'm putting my money on this. Sniper scope LOD.
Glad you're looking into this. I have to add though, this is really important stuff. Each time a sniper fires he gives his position away. Giving a heads up to a sniper you're shooting at... gets you killed. Sniper battle outcomes between a couple pros are swayed by this and in turn a whole match. |

That was a perfect example. To make matters worse eventually the sniper getting shot at figures out where the bullets are coming from and replies. I'm not sure how difficult it's going to be to enhance level of detail through the sniper scopes but as you can see, without it.... it's tough cookies. |
