Doesnt matter anyway this game is dead on arrival. It was such an exhausting week trying to help the Devs promote their failsauce. Not ONCE did they pop in to the escapist live stream.
IWS dont come in here with the devs are busy at work crap. Send a community manager then, it was pathetic and sad.
I wont speak about HMG since i dont use them but i do use a MD and it is lol easy.
Anyone watching the livestream saw how much the players sucked we put them in HMG and MD instant success.
Granted im talking 2 different points one related to OP and one not but its just plain striking how much CCP is failing on creating a "shooter"
CCP if you want to see how its done and how to properly build a "hype" around your game take a look at this
http://www.twitch.tv/trionworldsMe thinks technoviking and crew made the right move.
There are weapons that are immediately easy to use. And there are weapons that take a lot of time before they are good.
The problem with designing a game where all weapons play the same no matter how much time you invest in the game is that it has no longevity. And gets really boring to play over time.
If you judge DUST by 2 days of game play then you are just judging how well it plays for 2 days. I don't want to play a game that is designed to be awesome for the first 2 days and not much more than that.
So yes, Mass Driver and HMG are much easier to rack up kills with for some players in the first 2 days. ANd other weapons are better over time.
Granted, DUST 514 does not make a great first impression. But there is always a reason to come back and play, even in beta. Many more games that are much more polished and have great weapon balance in the first few days just don't appeal to me after playing them for a week or so.
Yes, you really do want to design a game to be its best in the first week if you are releasing a box game. It will get good reviews. Players will be impressed. When they get tired of it you can sell them all the parts of the game you left out of the initial release for twice as much money.
But this strategy can also fail. When you start selling the same game over and over again. It might be nice if CCP could make a really good first impression with there game. They might not be capable of it. But we do know they are capable of making a game that is worth playing over years. Not just for a few days.
