I think in order to change this reward for being red lined CCP should make it where you can't do dmg on your side of the red line. I also think a good way to fix this would be if you are 20M by red line you will not be able to dish out dmg in any form. Once you come out the red line you can't go back inside of it. Also in spots you can't hurt enemies you also can't be hurt. That way if you wanna be a coward out in the open so be it at least they won't be able to kill either.
Put a IMMEDIATE STOP to all this SP farming. That is by far the nerdiest thing I have seen. (No offense to the farmer Johns out there) Make it where you must get WP or kills to get XP and ISK. Red line snipers and SP farmers are ruining this game slowly. I understand it's only a "BETA" but if you really wanna make this game last till launch things have to change. More people are more focused on losing ISK than even trying to play the game."Only buy what you can afford?" How about "Only play to win?" "Play when you're actually there at your controller to try to win?"
How would you feel if you watched a sport in lower level where they weren't getting paid (ie High school Football) and they came out and just didn't play and waist your time for about a hour? So they could avoid injury or getting dirty? Going into games to see 70% of the team red line sniping or tank drivers sitting in the back going 5-0 in a game all because they didn't wanna risk losing a tank or suits. The game needs to change, "The time for change is NOW!" "Yes YOU can"
Games like Defiance are on their way. Destiny is about a year to a year and a half away, this game isn't even out of BETA or close to being out. I understand the game is F2P P2W but does that mean you guys are only preparing for failure? At this current course this game will not even pick up with the games that are gonna be released in near future.
I am not too huge on maps and add ons being priority. How about we fix the problems that are currently a problem? (DMG mod stacking, Hills Have Eye people grabbing your ankles by small hills, SP farming, NO INCENTIVE TO WIN!, ect. That is just to name a few I mean you guys know what needs fixing. I think the game has great potential but everywhere you turn there's a exploiter stacking DMG mods, Red line snipers, or SP farmers. How is this fair to the people who play the game the way it was intended? I am not saying sniping is bad RED LINE sniping is ********. You should not be rewarded for accepting a loss.
I apologize for this long post but I am hoping at least a few of you take time to read and maybe join in on the fight to fix this game and keep it going in the right direction quick enough to be able to be a established title and not just be a game we play to fill the void for when other games come out. |

Lol! You're clearly a red line sniper. There is LAVs, Dropships, tanks, Heavies to push the way for you. Cmon do I really need to tell you how to play? Well my idea would fix this. I am not saying this is right and anybody who doesn't agree is wrong. I am simply putting a idea out there to play foundation role in getting things started to finding a fix so Skirmish is worth playing again is all I am trying to do. |

[though there probably will have to be a -50 SP penalty for quitting matches instituted, as quitting to avoid losses is an FPS staple]
we dont support taking weapon dmg away, it doesnt fit into the lore at all. we think there should be a limit to the time you should be in the red area before u die and players should get 0 WP or SP for any actions there. no employer in New Eden will tolerate mercs that wont fight, it would be nice to see them hit the killswitch on players clones who wont advance into the field of battle. |

That could be a good idea give them time to get out red line but what if they get out red line just to go back in it? Killswitch would be nice idea maybe if you do it 3 times or so in a amount of time you auto die? |

Unfortunately no matter what system CCP implements, it will be exploited in some way. IMO the current iteration is probably the way it should (and likely will) remain. As a relatively new player I figured out pretty quickly that redline sniping leads to pretty uneventful and ineffectual gameplay. You have to be willing to mix it up or expose yourself if you want earn more than 150 WP per match.
At the same time, the initial reply had it right: pubstomps would just be ridiculous if this were the case. If a team ever got redlined it would be ruthlessly hard to break out. Imagine a squad of heavies or a HAV sitting in the open just beyond the redline. They could just gun you down as you spawned without fear of even being damaged...
As an aside: another poster in a separate thread had it right - drop uplinks are your friend. Use them! |

Agreed, if you make a career of being red lined maybe use uplinks? Dropships? There are answers to getting out red line. It's just right now where the game currently stands it's much more advantageous (Sorry Don Von WHOlio I know this is a big word and you won't know meaning) to just sit in the red line and snipe. |

I think this can be solved within the sliding scale that CCP seems to use for rewards at the end of battle. Rather than a sliding reward scale that is roughly equal for both the winning and losing teams, maybe it should be tied more directly to WP earned. By that I mean something like 500-750 isk for every WP earned. Thus you couldn't rely on the sliding scale giving you 100k isk even when you finished at the bottom of your team. You'd have to contribute.
Gets people out of the redline. Still preserves a safe area for people to spawn into. |

I like your idea, CCP take notes this guy knows what he's talking about! This would maybe even create incentive to win as well. This game needs to go into action getting everybody on the battlefield and less away from the red lines. |

They are all waiting by the redline waiting for you to get out to kill you but you cannot kill them to clear the way to get out of the redline

Tanks lolworthy and eazy to destroy so that would get insta popped unless you run out at full speed with everything activated just to survive only to find out if you have escaped than an OB or even 2 will get dropped on you just to destroy your tank and anyone in it because they couldnt jump out with everyone waiting for you

But 1 SL locking on before you leave the redline just to fire as you leave the redline and bang your dead or even mines waiting to hit you

What about DROPSHIPS?! You can't have your cake and eat it too. The team red lining you isn't gonna switch to all anti vehicle cause if they do than you can just fight your way out. If they are ready to pick you guys off with ARs and guns than use vehicles LAVS DROPSHIPS maybe use all at same time one gets by and sets uplinks? Anything is a better system than rewarding the team getting smashed nobody should get rewarded for losing.
You shouldn't just be able to sit in the back of your spawn and kill people if we can't go get you how the hell is that fair? |

You're a PFBHz. You're opinion doesn't matter because you and your corp constitute at least 2 standard deviations away from a normal skill level of this game. How many times have you been redlined so bad there was no chance of getting out? How many times have you been redlined by a squad of bunnies?

give them a certain amount of red line time per life, but when thats up they have no choice but to advance or their employers hit the killswitch. this isnt to say that people cant snipe, they just cant sit behind the safety of the redline where people cant advance on their position. |

The only solution that will ever work and not feel absolutely arbitrary and artificial is to remove the redline entirely when one team controls all the points for a certain period of time. Capture a final point in the enemy spawn, and the match is instantly over.
This is the only solution that will remotely approximate how things will be when territory is introduced. |

A one minute timer on the MCC and a one or two minute timer on the redline would mostly fix redlining. All we really need is a relatively predictable chance to nail the exploiters. Most people bug out of the redline pretty quick sometimes though it takes some time for your tank or jeep to arrive. I still want a chance to clean up my spilled soda or fix my daughters newest emergency. |

Okay, we're dealing with three completely different issues here.
1) AFK Farmers
2) Redline Sniping
3) Teams Being Redlined
Making a single sweeping change to try to cover all three is not the way to handle this. You need to look at each one individually and treat it like it is, a seperate issue from the rest. Remember, correlation does not imply causation.
1) AFK Farmers: AKF Farmers really don't have anything to do with the redline at all. Yes, being behind the redline does make it easier to farm, but if you know where the high traffic lanes are on the map, you can farm from outside the redline as well. Farmers only affect the team that they're on, so making changes to curtail Farmers that further impairs a teams ability to fight effectively, doesn't make sense. I don't really have any ideas that could solve this problem that couldn't (as others posters on this forum have said) be bypassed by the use of a rubberband, but I do know that focusing on the redzone isn't it.
2) Redline Sniping: The real issue with Redline Sniping, as I see it, is the lack of the opposing teams ability to strike back as they would be able to if the sniper was firing from any place else on the map. This is actually not an issue with the redline, but with topography. 95% of all the best sniping positions on the map are located in, on, or around the redline. This is not just true of Team Redzones, but of the redline that encircles the entire map as well. My proposed solution? Allow characters with a low Scan Profile to be able to enter the enemies redline for a short distance, I'd say a maximum of 20 meters, before the Kill Switch timer activates. The lower the profile, the farther you can penetrate the redzone, up to the maximum. This would allow Scouts to penetrate the farthest, while Heavies would not be able to penetrate at all do to their much higher Scan Profile. This would also keep any and all vehicles out of the redzone entirely, as it does right now. This idea makes redline sniping more danderous for the snipers, while keeping the relative safety that the redzone was created for in the first place.
3) Teams Being Redlined: Again, this really doesn't have anything to do with the redline. The problem here is with a lack of Win Conditions. As I've mentioned in my other thread "Win Conditions", we only have two; Destroy the MCC, and Cloning Out the enemy. Everybody focuses on the first, but when that gets taken away (as in, even if you capture all the Null Cannons and held them for the rest of the game you'd still lose), players are forced to focus on the second. And why should they come out of the redzone when all they have to do is sit back shoot you? Why try if you know you're going to lose? Forcing things like "timers if redzoned", "no damage when in redzone", "no points while in redzone", etc., doesn't make players want to try harder, it makes them want to stop playing. We been redlined, the game just got exponentially harder because of it, I'm going to lose anyway....see ya! If you want to keep games exciting, give players more ways to win. If their were a third way to win a match, or a fouth, players could then focus on this these new ways, while still trying to capture objectives in order to slow down the destruction of the MCC.
Three different solutions, to three different problems that if implented will help to alleviate the issues that we currently see in game. Will they stop them completely? No. The only way to stop all problems completely is to get rid of all of the players. No players, no problems....But no game either. |
