G Sacred wrote:Hello. I am emailing you to propose my solution to tank stealing. Earlier today a friend of mine nearly had his tank blown up, and when he jumped out to repair it, a team mate got in and refused to give it back. The teammate eventually got it blown up and ost my mate almost 2 Million ISK. A simple solution to this would be to let the owner of the tank take any seat he wants, even if occupied. Meaning if he was on a gunner turret in his tank and someone was in the main turret, when he hits triangle to switch seats, it would swap the teammate to the small turret and him to the large. If his tank is taken and all its seats are occupied, when he attempts to get in, it will kick the main driver out and let him in. If one were to hack an enemy tank and gain control of it, he would be the "new owner" of the tank and the same rules would apply. This is my suggestion and would solve many theft problems with tanks, LAVs and dropships.
Your idea is a terrible solution because it does nothing for you if a team mates takes the vehicle and drives in a direction faster than you can catch up. Assuming he does not stop, you will never catch him before he is done destroying the vehicle.
Also in the case of dropships it will take the teammate <1 second to make himself unavailable for you to enter the vehicle, seeing as he will be flying.
How about a lock driver seat option. Think it through man. |

This isn't a game of "Lets be friends" this is a game of "Shoot him in the face". Even with squad mates to swap with it seems some people must just be spamming triangle constantly to try to get in the driver seat. It's happened to my squad several times and something needs to be done. Happened to me like that the other day. Got an orbital strike and drove my tank to an empty redline corner but spawn shifted to me anyways. Had a squad member in tank and was trying to cordinate them to take the seat as I jumped out, but the instant I jump out a bluedot named maximiliano geronimo of Brutor Vanguard is in my tank. He then drives it directly into the bowl and parks in the middle of their entire team and sits there a good minute before he is finally popped by small arms fire. That situation was lame, but no where near as terrible as when your vehicle drops infront of you and you are locked out like everyone else and left spamming 'o' praying you get in first and don't jump out by accident.
This is another HUGE problem.
The timer for the owner of a vehicle to get in after RDV drop is TOO LOW. It's about 3-5 seconds. Problem is the enter vehicle button is glitchy. It pops in and out sometimes (at least on dropships). IF you try to wait for the button to show up again for you THEN a random blue gets in first, flies off and loses you a million isk. FUN!
or... IF You try to spam O to get in while the button is glitching THEN You might well get in the vehicle first, but could be in any random seat or turret and have to cycle to the proper driver seat WITHOUT over cycling, and faster than the blues who already have access can get in, fly off your ship and lose you a million isk. FUN

New Eden or not, vehicles locks should be standard issue. Are you really going park your vehicle with thieves all around and no way to lock it?
The easy answer is never get out, but that's not a realistic option.
Can't not get out if you didn't get in |
