I'm just seeing how this will go with the community before putting it in requests. Now I will more than likely get serious hate mail/comments for this but hey its just an idea. If there has to be an actual "redline" why not go all the way. Make it a shield generator at a fixed spot on the far side (later it could be an assault able position maybe?). To make a reference maybe Battle of Naboo style shields for size, just large enough to be effective. You could have it so that bullets can neither go in or out, but since most maps already have tall buildings or mountains in the back you could have them stick out at the very top of the shield so that snipers could still sort of have their way. It could be slightly smaller than the redline or even as small as the default ground spawn facility. In theory you could have it were OB's can still get through since there meant to be a incredibly powerful weapon anyways. To prevent people from just lining up along the shield you could have it were grenades still go through maybe? It also means you have to actually leave the "redline" to get kills. To help the tankers maybe have it so swarms can't lock while behind it.
I'm mostly posting this because, especially at Manus Peak, I'm tired of being redlined and then having 5 snipers up on the taller mountain killing us in our only 2 spawn zones while 2-3 tanks sit at the redline slaughtering anyone who manages the courage to cross into the open. The way I see it at least, is this way squads can regroup in cover then make a heavy push together. I'm aware of the AFK exploits possible in this but like I said its just an idea.
What do you think? If you really don't like it just tell me why, its just an idea so have at it. Maybe you could help flesh it out because I know I didn't cover everything. |

before people start legitimately complaining about redline snipers, it's an issue of map layout- not redline. All the good sniper perches are behind the redline. |
