Alot of people on here are upset with how slow dust514 is progressing but i think your looking at it wrong. CCP could have easily just waited and thrown everything at us when there done with the game. The way i look at it im happy that we were ALLOWED to see/help the game progress. Yes dust514 is moving slow at least as to what progress we see but hey if they wanted to they could have just worked it out themselves. All im saying is dont be upset when things go slow, im positive there is alot cool stuff going on behind the scenes that they arent allowed to tell us. Enjoy dust guys a beta can be a optional thing, and i'm happy that they're doing it right. Ive played many beta's that were no more then a demo!
The fact that things are taking this long makes leads me to believe we have alot of good stuff coming. I just figured this might help you look at it in a positive way...

Being that EvE is a freaking amazing game I have no doubt that Dust can be equally epic. They just need to do it sooner rather than later or lose the attention of their current fan base when they next big hits drop. |

I dont think they could lose there fan base by taking there time... Even if people take breaks they will be back for new content i assure you, I mean why woudnt they? |

I agree. This is actually one of the big advantages to going ftp - there's a very low barrier to (re)entry. |

I don't really agree with that logic that FTP means more players. Look at all those FTP games out there if that was true then they would have numbers that rival WoW or RIFT but they don't. Free will only get you far if the content isn't there and if the play experience is low.
EvE is a hard game to learn, Dust has a steep learning curve. What would make this game easier is bring in Certifications so new players can see how things work together. "Heavy Weapons Certification" and list the required skills to earn that cert. What it compliments well with what weapons. It would lessen the burden on new players so they could see how all of it interacts. EvE did it, I am sure Dust can too.
I really want Dust to succeed with 2 kids, my own job and helping my spouse run their business I don't have much time for MMOs like EvE any more and Dust is a chance to explore that setting. If I am critical of it, it is because I want it to be what EvE is. And that's an amazing game. |

I'm glad they're taking their time.
We see so many games rushed to the shelves nowadays that still look to be in Beta phase. *Cough* BF3, WarZ, Aliens Colonial Marines .etc *Cough*
Just hope the next build can make up for the slow development. |

I'm enjoying the game.
I'm bringing a lot of friends to the game.
I'm having to act (alongside some of the early adopters) as a mentor/tutor because the in-game tutorials are lacking and even the good ones suffer from a major problem with information overload when they're pushed onto new players. You need someone who has the patience to teach people things one step at a time. |

Squeaky wheel gets the grease. But in all seriousness, it's hard to give praise for something we see no evidence of. The only major news we are getting is on instant battle stuff, which does not improve the enjoyability of the game at all, so working hard on it makes it even worse.
If there was actually info on what devs were "working hard" on, it would logistically be possible to be appreciative. But you've kept us in the dark so long, and under and/or flat out failed to deliver so often that simply "trusting CCP" is out of the question.
I've been positive, it got positive responses then nothing happened. I've been negative, it got negative responses and things changed for a week. At this point I'm just after any method that will improve the value of my purchase long term. As a customer in a live, launched game, I expect support and service to make up for the lack of content in the short term.
It's certainly a lot to ask me to be genial as you take my money before delivering on nearly all of the core features I invested in seeing delivered. You wait on monetization, we'll wait on features. You do not wait ... well you certainly get the picture now.
There are certainly people I respect for their hard work. CCP Nothin, CCP Nullarbor, and CCP FoxFour for example (although certainly not exclusively). Every time they communicate I take the time to tell them so.
Sorry for the rant, it is not directed at you personally at all. Acknowledgement that our frustrations are real and legitimate would go a long way towards improving the whole situation. That is the message I hope you pass along. |
