Tech 3 comes from reverse engineering ancient tech found in wormhole space. So here is a PVE suggestion on how to gather components for dust bunnies to build Tech 3 suits. it is kind of dramatic so i am going to write it as a story, try and put yourself in these guys shoes.
You assemble your team, a few heavies, some scouts, a good amount of assaulter's some logi's and some Tech 3 scanners. An eve pilot in your corp has found something out in uncharted reaches of the galaxy. An ancient star base still drifting in the void. Time to go get some Tech 3 stuff the pilot says, you can taste the glory of a T3 suit on your lips. You equip a flashlight to your gun and start the contract. When you spawn its black....pitch black, except for the lights of the docked ship behind you. You turn on your flashlight and group up with your squad, two squads, two scanners. you head out down a corridor, beams of metal and pipe litter the walls and ground. Wires dangle and cast odd shadows on the walls as your flashlight scans the corridor. Your scanner guy says there is something up ahead, possibly tech. "Possibly" you think, what else could it be? this station was abandoned centuries ago.....right? The scanner leads you out of the main hallway, through a series of other very eerie rooms and corridors until you happen apon a nice big door that reminds you of a vault. Yes, this must be it, your team radios the other squad that you have found something, they start to head towards you. Meanwhile your scanner uses his codebreaker to hack the door and your eyes widen at the sight of glorious Tech 3 components, enough to fit both squads once you get it back to the ship. your squads start to take everything they can carry, and as you pick up the last bit of tech there is suddenly a loud BANG down the hall....your EVE pilot tells you its time to go. you aim down the main hall, but cant see anything, your flashlight only goes so far. Thats when you start to hear the screams, horrible agonizing screams like 1000 people are wailing out in sheer bloodcurdling agony, like their minds have been tortured for over 100 years, You are not alone, perhaps you never were. The sleepers have risen. Your all sprinting now, hoping you can find the hanger where you started from. The screams grow louder, and you start to hear metal claws taping faster and faster behind you, one of your scouts says 'F THIS MAN IM OUT" and starts running ahead, faster than anyone else. He gets to a 4 way corridor, then a flash of blue and silver, and then he's gone. His screams join the others. Your hearts pounding, you have almost forgotten about the Tech, your just trying to run, trying to get out of this pitch black hell. You turn for a moment, look back from where you came. Down the corridor you see 10 blue lights, is that a door? a guiding light maybe, but as two of the lights move into your flashlights range, you see the horror that is a sleeper drone. You take no time in pulling the trigger, but the sleeper is fast, climbing on the walls and the ceiling, shredding wires and pipes with its metal claws. Screaming as it charges you, as you fire your last bullet it jumps at you, and your lucky enough to have your heavy gun him out of the air. Half your team has been dragged off or killed you, your heavy, your scout and your scanner are all that are left, back to back in this tomb of the void. Maybe you make it back, horrified as to what you just went through, but now you can make that T3 suit you always wanted. Maybe you dont make it back at all. Tech 3 is very hard to get, makes it that much more rewarding.
So basically, Sleepers. For those of you who don't know what sleepers are go look it up. This would make quite the change of pace for dust. Not just another fps, i would count this as exploration. In eve you must brave the sleepers to get the materials to build T3 cruisers, so why not the same for dust? I want to see some kind of horror in this game, at least in PVE. I think that sleepers are already really scary, i think they can be even scarier in dust.
anyway what do you guys think? challenging enough for Tech 3 suits?
