Just a small list of easy changes that would bring a whole new life to dropships.
-Passengers need to be able to repair/fire from the dropship in flight, either with the bay doors open or closed. (having the doors closed would protect your occupants but reduce their field of view.)(also repair tools should be able repair shields and armor at the same time, just have different models that are better at repairing one over the other.)
-The pilot should actually be able to open/close the bay doors, being able to shield their troops from fire. (bay doors should no longer passively open when close to the ground, it should be up to the pilot to open and close them.)
-Bay doors should conceal turret gunners when closed. (the dropship turrets are not manually controlled but rather controlled by a computer screen operated by the gunner. just like a tank, so why are the gunners vulnerable on a dropship?)
-Reduce the amount of impact a hit causes to the dropship, causing it to be more stable while under fire.
I don't think this is too much to ask for in a vehicle that costs the same as a tank but has less hp, less module slots as well as less CPU/PG.

a little faster acceleration
weapons that shoot in the general direction the gunners are aiming |

I don't think we should ever be able to repair inside the vehicle, it would be ridiculous. Agreed with being able to shoot out and being able to open/close doors. |

... you want drop-ships flying around filled with HMG?... or mass drivers?.... or snipers? |

See thats the problem with balance. I don't think Heavy Weapons should be able to be fired, Snipers wouldn't be so bad especially if the Dropship is constantly moving, only good snipers would be able to do it. Doors should have to be opened to fire at all imo too. |

What about laser rifles? swarm launchers? those scoped AR's?... big kettle of fish this one lol. |

So even if you couldn't fix the dropship in mid-air, they should at least increase the HP and shield regen rate on shield dropships, and just a larger HP bonus to armor.
But I don't see a problem with allowing heavies to shoot from the dropship, with the doors closed they have a very small field of view and with the doors open they would be completely vulnerable.
Although a forge gun on the dropship would seem OP, it would be very difficult to aim because you dont have a gyroscoped aiming effect unless your in the turret. So unless your pilot floated slowly through the air waiting to be hit by a railgun or a forge gun. Without turning or changing altitude, or your pitch/yaw I would like to add.
but either way i believe the rest of the listed changes would be perfectly fine. |

1. sniping is NOT that easy
2. you're in a dropship unless the pilot has a death wish you will be moving almost at all times so lazers, AR, and snipers will be almost completely useless even at close range
3. (to OP) I agree small turrets kinda suck so shooting out when say a dropship is landing makes sense and gives better cover then the small turrets most of the time and provides a more realistic experience.
4. (to OP)everyone on earth agrees to reducing collision (more like bump) damage to dropships |
