Currently, active modules are very hard to use in the heat of battle. To fix this, CCP could make the following changes:
1.Allow us to use preset buttons to activate our modules - For example, instead of using the analog stick to select the module you want, a player could alternatively use the triangle, circle, square, or X button (while holding R2) to select it much faster.
2. Remove the Active Module HUD from the center of the screen - The Active Module HUD blocks your view of the battlefield AND it temporarily immobilizes you too. A permanent Activate Module HUD located at the bottom of the screen could fix this problem.
3. Add sounds to indicate when the module is ready to be used again - Add a voice or sound that tells us when the module is ready to be used again, it'd make tank gameplay a lot easier and enjoyable.
Any thoughts on this guys? |

Square and X Are un used on ground vehicles. We could use these as "keybinds" for an auto activate. I don't know what your talking about in "2".I think suggestion 3 isn't critical/necessary but would be nice. |

It wouldn't make sense to waste those 2 buttons just to activate 2 modules. The R2 + (Insert Button) option would work much better because people might want to use 5 or 6 active modules on their fitting. The unused square and X button could be utilized for something else.
in #2 i was referring to the big HUD that appears when you hold R2 in-game. It blocks your view.
#3 would REALLY help out a lot of people that drive tanks. When you're focusing on shooting people, it can be hard to tell when your module is ready to be activated again. |

+1 to the general idea of ability to switch gear faster.
R2 (and L2) is an anolog button. Ie. it can sense the depth of depression. How about this:
R2 mode #1) Tap it lightly to cycle between equipement instantly sans gear selection HUD. R2 mode #2) Press it fully to display gear selection HUD.
This sounds sane IMHO :)

It would be also nice to set what gear is active after spawning. Or set the last used gear upon death.
Sometimes i need several attempts with right stick to select active gear on HUD. Or maybe i just need more practice in using gear selection HUD ;) |

I believe that "Gear cycling" is partly why it's so hard to use active modules in this game. With Gear cycling, you have to actively search for the module that you want to use, which temporarily distracts you from what's going on in the battle. I still think It'd be a lot easier/faster to press a combination of buttons like R2 + X, or R2 + Circle, in order to select the module that you want.
I'd much rather your gear cycling method than the one we have right now though. |

Better yet, CCP could probably implement both of these systems (Cycling and Preset buttons/Hotkeys) at the same time. Something really needs to change with the system that's being used right now though. It'd be really disappointing if we were still forced to use the current system in the full version of the game. |

I think you can actually 'hot swap' your weapons right now although it doesnt seem to work that reliably. I have just tapped R2 and had it switch between my main and my sidearm. The only problem is that it doesnt do it reliably enough for me to count on it.
Also to note is that the HUD option is very finicky when it comes to be able to select what you want. I have routinely pushed right to select my sidearm and gotten my equipmunk instead. |

It has been said many times, and I agree with it each time.
Module selection is way too finicky!
As both a logi and a pilot I am constantly struggling with the system. It adds a huge delay and often results in incorrect selection. It's fine for the fitting screen, but it sucks in battle. |

The game doesn't always respond when i try to 'hot swap' my weapon. It'll sometimes bring up the module HUD instead which would allow my enemy enough time to kill me :(
I can't believe CCP even released the open beta with such a flawed game mechanic. They're crazy if they think the current module-switching system is adequate for a fast-paced FPS like DUST 514

I would like the change but it isnt game breaking for me. There are a lot of things that can be adjusted right now but, as long as they are receptive to our feedback, Im fine to keep on playing and adjusting as they come along.
The lack of a true 'hot swap' is a big one to get used to, especially for people that have a long range main weapon and a short range sidearm. (My other one is not having a knife as a potent melee weapon.) |
