ive seen this word go around a lot in recent times
we have to ask our selves what REALLY is pay to win
one thing we know is pay to win is when some one who pays irl money has a undeniable advantage over some one who does not pay irl money
another thing we know is people call pay to win when people can get something with paying irl money that other people can't get with in game money
let's look at these two factors and cover them in dust
1. you can buy proto suits ok ~ this is semi pay to win semi only due to the fact that in order to stay competitive in this game you have to play it stealthy or get really good equips and hope you don't die and loss all your isk
so how does this work if you pay irl money for it ? well assuming they don't (and i really hope they don't) release proto suit blue prints for AUR i think this is just fine
they can have there proto suits i can still get proto suits if i want to it will just take a bit more time than that person
ontop of that i can still kill them i just need to play a bit more careful but the main thing is
i don't see paying for stuff in game as pay to win i see it as paying a subscription (kinda) in eve if you want to make mass money you but plex easiest way to it but then if you make enough in game money plex can be brought in game to pay for your subscription
so having a active pilots license in eve is kinda like having a proto suit in dust (in theory) you can buy a plex in eve with isk you earn from playing eve just like in dust
the only difference between the two is you don't NEED the proto suit in dust to do well or play the game but in eve you HAVE to buy the plex but you don't see people complaining about eve do you ? (keep in mind there will always be that small amount of the community who we ignore since they don't know there ships from there pods)
basically what im saying is if your going to say pay to win in a game like dust is stupid then you can also say subscription based games are stupid farm bots are stupid and paying for a good build to be able to play games on max settings is stupid it should all just be free for the player to use it when ever they want free of charge no costs involved
(very round about way of saying it but idk my 0.02isk)

The real advantage is paying to get passive and active boosters! You will be able to level up in skills quicker than someone who has none! Its not really paying to win, but paying to hurry the F up so you can skill up on another skill! |

No. All AUR items will be available for ISK once the player market goes up. At the moment those that can afford the real money items have an advantage over those that don't. But the game isn't finished. You agreed that you understood the game was incomplete when you installed it. If they remove AUR items or do anything else to alter the game then they will have no idea what it will be like once it is changed back.
Whether or not it is "P2W" is meaningless because this is not how CCP intends the game to be. So we just have to deal with until the market is up. It will not be like this forever and we can't expect CCP to really do anything about it until their solution is ready to be put in the game.
I might add that the player market will be directly linked to EVE, which is a decade old game that has around 50,000 people logged on at any given time and is the only game (and only source of revenue I believe) for CCP. They're not going to hurry just to make us feel better.
PS. This anger is not directed at the OP and I know he wasn't really saying that it is. I'm just getting tired of this whole thing in general so this post is for everyone else who reads the thread. |

every one reaches the same cap i bet when dust finally finished beta and starts
you will be able to buy implants with isk
but atm the most they are doing is giving the guy a extra 500 sp once he has reached the cap (on the average skirmish map you can probable reach the skill point cap in about 5-6 matches assuming you play them from start to finish) |

The very moment the market opens, all these (even rightfully questioned things like boosters) cease to be P2W.
Just buy it with isk. AUR becomes convenience only not having to grind ton of isk to pay other players. |

The only pay to win would be: - Weapons you buy are more powerful than the weapons for ISK - You have LEVEL 6 that you unlock only with aurum for special overpowered weapons or passive buffs and there are LEVEL 5 for everything which everyone can reach equally with different pace
Everything in this game is convenience and get-there-quicker if you want option. It's an mmo, it's f2p. No golden ammo or bullets, no disadvantage if you don't pay money. Sorry if you think otherwise, but we are all on equal grounds. Paying or not.
Also, AUR items will be purchasable for ISK in the future and sold by players. |

Not a problem. I'm all over these threads because it's getting out of hand. CCP isn't going to make AUR items better than ISK item because they don't need to. They don't expect people to buy AUR so they can get that proto suit early (which is honestly a waste of AUR or ISK in most cases, but whatever) any more than they expect people to buy plex with real money to extend their subscriptions.
I would wager that most of the AUR sold will be with the intent of reselling for ISK. A PLEX is $15 US and since it is a single item is not as accessible to a lot of players as lots and lots of little items will be which is what I think CCP is hoping for. |

i saw a guy on eve
get about 12 bill worth of isk in eve he is a new player keep in mind he just brought tons of plex ....
so like ~ with this 12bill isk he brought a carrier and said he wanted to fly it but it will take a while
so i find him at random anomaly's fighting stuff in a naga he can't even fight large turrets yet since he does not have the skill points
But he says he has trained all the skills he can to Lv 2-3
.... he had a factional battery in his ship worth 2 bill
the naga ship is not even worth that much and he said he needed it to be cap stable and he was having trouble clearing the site vs my destroyer just mopping the floor with T2 lasers
THIS IS THE PAYTOWIN MARKET PEOPLE IM NOT THAT SCARED OF IT
so i sent him to a friend of mine who showed him what to do and what not he gave me 50 mill and gave my friend the 2bill ship

Exactly. Even if they had some sort of pay to win items, which they don't in this game, you can destroy it.
You can take the prissy-ass-money-slinging-punk's toy away and smash it on the ground. And then watch the forum threadnaughts of "I paid gud muneez for this why can sum1 destroy it!!!!"
And then collect the tears.
God I hope we see AUR tanks soon. I want to see the tears flow in a river through General Discussions.
