Call in 700K ISK ship. The following happens:
~RDV crashes into wall, dies. ~Deploys vehicle on ground. It rolls everrr so slightly. Crushes me. Idiot blueberry comes over and jacks ship. Drives it straight into wall. It dies. ~Flying near a wall or ground, swarm launcher destabalizes ship and it bumps into a wall with less than a newton of force. It explodes on contact. It dies. ~RDV deploys vehicle onto of dropship. It dies. ~Flying RDV spawns right into dropship. it dies. ~RDV deploys dropship on slightly uneven terrain. It immediately topples over and gets 100% stuck sideways unable to lift off after 10 minute struggle. AV comes, fires, it dies. ~Flying overhead at full speed, after burners. Speced AV fires forgegun. 1 shot, instant kill. it dies. ~Flying around, 100 more RDV's fly into dropship unexpectedly and unavoidably fast. It dies. ~RDV flys in for drop off, AV has a full couple minutes to fire at defenseless DS as it floats around like a drunken stripper teasing you with the ship. It dies before deploying. ~Flying around, enemy team decides to have a 1-2 people use swarms. Effectively forces ship to fly like maniac doing *%&^ all for the remaining 10 minutes. It probably dies. ~Enemy team decides to pull out one forge gun. Ship is worthless. Try to dodge the easiest to aim gun in the game for next 10 minutes to save ship. Die. ~Land ship to pick up a gunner for those measly assist points either -Nobody gets in -Somebody gets in and get's shot out because unlike tank our turrets AND passengers can be assassinated in vehicle -Somebody get's in and AFK's in the turret slot. Dropship now 100% useless. NO EJECT BUTTON. Fail. ~Uses cpu/PG/ISK expensive CRU to spawn in people. Get no points, half team AFK's in ship. NO EJECT BUTTON! Losing the match. AV shoots down and get's +700k isk destruction. +7 kills. Match over.
Shall I continue?
For all the CRAP drop-ship pilots have to put up with, some simple things that would fix a good deal of it would be:
1. Vehicle locks and seat eject controls. I need skills to call in the ship but any idiot can mosey on over, hop in, and fly it without them? An enemy has to at least hack the vehicle. Why does it not have a bloody key for ignition?! If I call it in, I want to be able to fly it before someone else takes it off attempt their rendition of Sept. 11. Its horrible but that's all I can think of when a pilot jack's a passenger vehicle with no skill OR INTENTION of being able to pilot and land it effectively, but instead broadsides a structure. These unlicensed vehicle thief's are all terrorists. Locks for driver seat, eject controls for AFKing noobs.
2. RDV's collision needs eliminated. Either the damage needs removed or something needs drastically done about their flight paths.
3. +25 points for CRU. Comeon. Its bugged now? Fix it please, it's killing any pilots chances of paying for another BS DS death.
4. Need some counter to being 1 shot by certain forge guns. It's the sniper equivalent to blowing up a million dollar aircraft. A little unbalanced if you ask me.
5. Reduce vehicle collision damage. I understand before it was nonexistent and people used DS like banshies in Halo sweeping the floor with reds. Then you adjusted the collision too high, making the slightest bump as unforgiving as a forge gun blast to the backside. Surely there is a point where collision damage prevents using DS like a LAV and yet also allows the occasional flying near terrain or structures. (currently too dangerous due to AV impact wobble).
5. Free / militia / unskilled AV needs seriously balanced. It's a joke right now that within a moment an entire team can swap to free AV fits and guarantee your demise. |

RDVs really need to just drop it straight down, none of this coming in at an angle crap and exploding half the time if you're anywhere near an obstacle.
Yes I'd say most of the time ship-deaths are result of RDV shenanigans. Of course if it would have had the chance to be born, it likely would have died to any of the other issues right after.
However I feel very cheated during these events.
It might be fun for someone else to watch but paying near a million ISK to watch a blind cat total my vehicle before I can get inside it is the ultimate fail. Watching that train wreck ensue activates mixed emotions of facepalm/rage/despair. |
