We all (well, those of us who've been around long enough) know how good Regnum is. I picked him because he's well known enough to make this clear, could have chosen any number of other people, but I have respect for Regnum's abilities.
You'll see where this is going very quickly.
The game has been going for 1 month (this is a hypothetical), both Regnum's are at exactly the same warpoints, have the same gaming skills, kill count, vehicle kills, they are both working on the same type of character build, etc. They are equal in every way. Except that one Regnum has been running boosters since the reset and is running all of the highest level AUR gear he can, and the other is playing completely for free. Which one would win?
Gear breaks the tie.
Saying skill beats gear is easy to say, but when you have two people on equal footing skill-wise, gear tips the tables in their favor. Gear is accessed via SP, SP is boosted by AUR, and AUR is bought with real money. In other words, one of these Regnum's is spending money in order to win, aka paying to win.
Now a lot of you will say that "once the market opens up it won't matter since AUR items will be available for ISK!" This is true, when the market opens up it WONT matter. However, the market ISN'T open, and until it does people are paying to win. When 1v1, skill=skill, play time=play time, FREEvPAY, the one who pays wins because they are pushed ahead of the rest.
I would like to request an SP cap on all boosters until the market opens up. After you reach 6 Mil SP, you should have your boosters frozen until the marketplace opens up and new players can buy them with ISK. There is no reason for those with this much SP to NEED to pull ahead of everyone else so much faster, especially with things like the Omega Active Booster coming out. This would also slow down the SP gain of people who are in the lead on SP and allow those of us who are behind to catch up a little bit.
Now, HATE ME!!!! |

I always thought he got it from Dissidia 012 Duodecim. Feral Chaos' ExBurst is named "Regnum Dei".

So you want to restrict players such as myself who are not cheap spend money to support CCP which enable's the freeloaders to continue to play for free hmm not going to happen No such thing as a freeloader in a F2P game my friend. CCP is making plenty of cash with their new cash-cow, AUR Proto-suits. I have no sympathy. |

What about new players in a few months who come in boosters blazing, but are still behind experienced vets who don't boost? The whole Sp > skill & p2w stuff will rage on.
Also remember CCP said weekly cap is only temporary until the get a rolling cap working. More SP rage SOONtm. I do so love the SP rage.... ah, I remember the days when you were able to get SP so fast that you'd have proto gear after a single day of heavy grinding... |

Besides, 1x1 encounters occur all the time in Dust, especially in ambush. |

Logi Bro wrote:*sigh* I want to make a big response to this, but I just don't have it in me right now. I'll just say this, you forgot to mention tactical placement. Even if there is a guy with equal skill to me with better gear, if I have the high ground and am standing next to a nanohive/supply depot and therefore able to spam the other guy with a literal ton of grenades, then I win. I hate to disagree with the legendary Logi Bro (welcome back to the forums btw, I haven't seen you post in a long time), but being able to grenade spam isn't a win button. .....unless you are using fused grenades..... in which case, you're already buying AUR and boosters, so there you have it. You can't really cook each grenade you throw and call it a grenade spam either. In fact, having altitude doesn't even give you a guaranteed win when you have an assault mass driver and a clear shot. The point is, this isn't a "but what if this happens" scenario, this is a face to face, one on one, dance-strafe or die scenario to show how the difference presents itself, and because a large portion of the encounters in Dust turn up like this, it's not like I'm just coming up with some implausible scenario. |

Full Metal Kitten wrote:Hold up pardner. You've got the hand eye coordination to play DUST, the mental acuity to dissect P2W, and a computer to troll forums with, but you can't work? Laziness is not a disability. No offense, of course, disabilities can be rough. Stop selling yourself short! See what I did there? Not to delve too deeply into my personal health history on a public forum, but I have a spot on my brain. It causes me to have random blackouts and severe dizziness issues among other things. Long story short, I cannot work.
Luckily my mental acuity hasn't been effected so far (that I can tell), so I'm using it while I still have it. |
