DUST Search - Just tried the mouse with a Ds3

I know I've mentioned this set up plenty of times.

The only problem is that you can't remap buttons,so some are redundant,and most importantly,CCP hasn't set up the mouse for gaming mice that have thumb buttons,which are unused right now.

As soon as they give us the option to remap buttons,DS3 and Logitech G5 will be my primary setup.

I also tried to use the Move nav stick and a mouse,but it didn't work at all.I guess the nav stick doesn't work at all without the Move wand.

If you dont have a programmable mouse then put the ds3 on your lap for square and R3. you can get that thing for $20 and its hands down the best thing to use if you want to hybrid.

Mouse gives you so much more control over aiming. Its just getting your head wrapped around the keyboard. I still use ds3 but i cant get the precision of a mouse. when i get a USB extender i will definitly use my KB/M untill then i need that usb slot for my headset

Its way more intuitive, because its point and click, not axial. You should pick it up in no time. The hardest part will be getting your fingers to work properly on the board in a tight situation lol But, even though i play on the PC alot as well. I wont use my KB/M for DUST. The reason is, i think its either going to be removed, or dumbed down the certain aspects (like, the sensitivity and how precise you can be) that make a KB/M preferable. So to bypass such a disappointment, i wont even get used to using it on DUST.

Second time im using guitar hero stuff lol.

I've been married to the DS3 because i need to learn how to use one, but in the back of my mind I've been thinking about the Splitfish FragFX Shark. It solves the button issues. You also have to turn it off and back on before each match in order for the mouse to work. It's a pain in the butt. I put the Move controller out of sight because it seems there is somewhat of a lag with 4 or 5 devices active with keyboard, mouse, Eye, Move, NAV, and headset. It seems strange that not a company has put a "left side of DS3" controller on the market that let's you play with a mouse. I remember CCP discussing working with third party developers for control hardware in a CAST podcast. I hope they develop something for the console gamer who isn't familiar with movement via a keyboard. Aiming with a mouse seems like something I can adapt to and hopefully master. However using a keyboard for movement makes me feel like I'm handicapped.

I'd read that you just need to set the NAV to controller #1, but you need the move on as well. Then you end up with 5 devices being "handled" by the PS3 during gameplay. I had the feeling my guy was drifting left a bit while using the NAV and mouse.

Rest hand on keyboard, holding Sixaxis controller (I have a release-day pre-dualshock controller as well as several DS3s). 3. Hold mouse in other hand. This way, I can rest the fingers under my controller against the jump, crouch and reload buttons, while also having the mouse and controller in hand. Even doing this, I find it more comfortable using the sixaxis - the advantage I gain makes little to no difference in a Shotgun or SMG duel, and the advantages when sniping aren't significant enough to really make it worth the effort to me. If it helps you, great, but I more often run sixaxis because it's not a disadvantage.

It definitely works well with DUST 514, a lot better for me personally than the DS. Benefits of left analogue stick for movement and a mouse for aiming with all buttons available.
