Problem isnt the railgun its the broken dmg mods giving out insane dmg bonuses 2 shottin and 3 shottin a well fitted tank is just boring
before CCP broke dmg mods rail fights were the best thing for a tanker now its not really that exciting at least for me hence my swap to blasters
The rail turret itself is fine its more the dmg mods and all the passive dmg skills stackin up on the turret that makes tank fights end too fast or end up in a stalemate |

Thats awesome dude I wish i could drive my tank up to a supply depot and swap my blaster for a railgun, then I could HTFU and deal with it like the guy who doesn't even have a dog in the fight. Please just shut up, infantry AV can have a big effect on tank fights, and before you go all arrogant on us we may not be directly involved in most cases but we definitely have an interest in the outcome, when you tankers drop 2+ tanks onto a match full of randoms your only response is "qq more". when a tank comes out to play, we deal with it. and btw when you call out a blaster tank you are fully aware that someone on the other team might call out a railgun tank to counter you your so ignorant its kind of funny. you do realize you can get a miltia shield tank to do like 6000 damage a shot thats bs. Railgun ruin tank vs tank gameplay. Its stupid that you can take a miltia tank and **** a proto tank because of the railguns broken damage!
again ill repeat the railgun isnt the problem ur new to tankin so it might seem that way but it isnt when i started tankin rail fights never was a 2-3 shot kill it took skill and coordination, 2v2 tank fights were the best thing ever for me in DUST during that build because u had to coordinate with another tanker and focus fire as well to get a well fitted tank down. Not anymore.
With passive dmg being added to skills (thanks EVE guys!) and broken dmg mods u do a ridiculous amount of dmg which end all rail fights in like 6 secs. Its no longer fun for me because its not very skillful imho.
Its like cod fights but with tanks 1st to shoot wins, or camp it up and peek. what worries me is the dmg mods been broken for like 5-6 months now like WTF |

I thought the stacking penalty was working on vehicles, (Would anyone want to set up a mock corp battle to do some testing with me?) its the skills that effect damage that make rails the go to. But if you nerf the rails damage all you will see are suryas with blasters Unless CCP changes the sagaris maurader skill effects rails
nope i did the math and it doesnt add up pre wipe id one shot a drop ship with over 5500 HP i know cuz it was a Zion dude who pm'd me asking wtf i had on my tank to drop 5500 HP in 1 hit so im positive i was doin more than 5500 and not exact and this btw was with L.Hybrid turret prof only on lvl 2 not maxed
dmg mods + passive skill dmg ruined how the old good rail fights tbh

at the end of the last build after ccp tweaked vehicle CPU and PG i ended up rockin 2 dmg mods instead and was still 2 shottin and at TOPS 3 shottin every tank high end or not.
the mods are def broken
tbh passive skills should not add dmg but add something else to each turret let turret operation alone affect dmg
let L.Hybrid turrets affect heat build up or sum idk but skills that add dmg shorten fights even with all my mods goin i will get 3 shotted on my main surya fit which makes no sense when im suppose to be negating way a **** load of ur dmg with resistances.

ill prob be takin it easy this week tho since we're out no need for us to go hard atm just back to reg boring ole dust now lol |

There are issues with stacking penalties on a lot of modules, so that's a problem, but Railguns themselves? No problem.
Last time I tried using them, Missiles still needed a slight buff, but other than that, I don't have a problem (and I run AV more often than tanks, but I do both).
Missiles need less dmg, more splash radius and to shoot straighter and have 2 diff types of missile turrets a standard one that can be long range and does low dmg and a high dmg but short-med missile
If all missiles connect missiles do alot more dmg than rails and on armor its even worse with the bonus
It worries me that at this stage in the beta stackin penalties and such are still a problem
@Slap sure man np, we should also test on each other (obv not to destroy but calculate dmg) because tbqh i dont think hardeners negate any of the dmg because tbh if ur rail is doing 5400 at the end of the last build like u said then it should take more than just 2-3 hits to drop a tank that is resist heavy so either dmg mods are broken as **** or hardeners/resists dont negate the rail dmg
before dmg mods and w/e CCP broke with vehicles my blaster fit tanks could still push a rail tank and close the gap now u cant even do that. Even in cqc where a blaster should hav the adv it will lose atm to a rail due to them only needin 2-3 shots |

The redline, in general, has some bad mechanics tied to it....but don't blame the tank weapon.
I've seen blaster tanks sneak up on rail tanks and pop them....rare but it happens.
Not to mention you can deal stupid amounts of damage with a high level forge guns fitted with damage mods and that gun is carried in someone's hands, not fitted on the top of a tank, and much cheaper than an actual A/V tank.
IMO, tanks need a bit more tank (generally speaking) but they also need to be restricted from pubbies at certain levels and removed from Non OMS Ambush all together.

as slap said his rail pre-wipe was doin 5400 dmg idk if ppl just NEVER sat and did some simple math but there is NO WAY with ALL passive skills AND THREE dmg mods can rail output 5400 dmg yet it does, thats a 300% increase in BASE dmg thats how BADLY broken dmg mods are atm
the railgun isnt the problem its the mods that are ******* up **** atm
PS: WHY DAFUQ does the DCU have a stacking penalty when in EVE it gives FULL benefit CCP???

last time i checked skills increase by 2-3% not like 20% |

read my 4 part series on fixing tank play. 2 of which go specifically for buffin shield tanks and the other 2 are just general tank fixes which include fixing the currently ******** broken dmg mods that everyone loves to abuse for months and CCP still hasnt fixed which has turned tank play from something that required skill and strategy to simply drop rail tank with dmg mods since it wins at all ranges
