I'm aware we can unlike a comment we have previously liked but I would also like an option to register my disapproval of certain posts and threads by 'disliking' them. This way the community will be able to let people know when they've said something really stupid without having to copy the responses already posted. |

I really don't need to point out why this is a bad idea. I don't want trolls making accounts just to dislike every comment they see. |

Yes trolls could do that but they'd only be able to dislike each comment once and they'd get so many dislikes themselves that they'd be much easier to spot when they're clandestine trolling. |

I think it would just encourage trolls.. best to avoid anything that does that.
you can already register your disapproval of a post by replying with a well constructed critique. |

That's... obvious. Anyway, you see that "Like Count"? Some people like that thing. Now imagine a troll made an account or two and disliked every comment you ever made. Doesn't seem fun, does it? |

This issue could easily be worked around by the moderators by having a automatic reporting system to flag someone who gives out lots of dislikes over short time periods. It's done on other forums and on sites like Youtube - I really don't see why it shouldn't be done on the Dust forums. |

It's done on other forums and on sites like Youtube - I really don't see why it shouldn't be done on the Dust forums. It still doesn't work well. It's completely unnecessary. We can already comment critique. Some people ask, why is any different than a "Like" button? Well, that was added because people replied to threads with "^ This", "I like this" and "Support", which were also unnecessary. When people dislike a bad idea, the criticize it, they don't simply say "I dislike this" or "no support"... at least, they shouldn't. |

I liked your dislike . .. I think. Really . . . it sounds like a good idea in theory, but it is not and would not be, in practice. If you think trolling is bad now . . . |
