I am a player of Dust514 since when the beta began. I have three accounts and have varied my play style multiple times to see how the game is and see what the hype is all about. This HYPE, about two games Eve, which I will say is very complex and I tip my hat to CCP for what they have developed, and then the lower disappointment game Dust514. The two games are said to be merged basically as one, each doing their own job in the Eve universe. I can honestly say that Eve Online is doing it's part while Dust514 is lacking...to say the least.
Dust514 has multiple problems gameplay and design is least of it issues. The lag is tremendous, the match making is by unfair to low skilled players, the skill point system despite getting revised now multiple times suffers greatly, and teamwork is not encouraged amongst players. Lets first start with the easiest of problems that need to be addressed. The lag, which ruins any game that suffers from this notorious internet FPS shooter genre, Dust514 is some of the worst lag I have ever played against. I myself have played MAG, which was a decent online game when you had the friends to play with you and even the lag was bearable. Dust514 lag on the other hand, is utter garbage. I can easily play against a group of people had crush their forces within a matter of minutes, yet the following game we could have almost the exact same players as last, and the lag shows and turns against us.
The problem has been addressed multiple times and it never seems to be resolved, and a game that is supposed to be a part of another game that requires players to pay to play, and this is occurring is unacceptable. I would rather play Call of Duty, which I as a player despise a game which takes hardly any skill, tactics, or at least play in a cognitive function. Not in a drowsed stated and still walk away with 30 kills and only 2 deaths. Dust does take skill but you can't actually see players that are skillful at this particular moment. CCP needs to boost up their server's tremendously.
Now another issue is the actual game mechanics, as a Dust Trooper you fight battle's which in return earn you ISK and skill points. On average I get a little over 1000 war points per match. Which is around 210,000 ISK per game and only about 5,000 skill points. Now at first this is not that bad it seems, until you have spent all the beginner skill pioints that you start out with, but once run out you feel as if you play for no reason. I have calculated one of their skill trees' and at the present state and if I slowly raise how much skill points I get per match, and if I get over 5000 per game. With the cap in consideration it will take the average player to maximum out the Heavy Vehicle skill tree will take approximately 6-8 months. That is if you do not spend any skill points in any skill tree spot,
The skill point cap system needs to be revised the players can only get 280,000 skill points a week, against a 12X skill that is ridiculous. What is even worse is that there is a daily cap so if you get only 20,000 skill points on Monday, and you max out the 40,000 skill points on Tuesday, the player can not gain the remain 20,000 skill points he missed the day prior. Which requires each player to play at least 5-6 hours every day to keep up with other players. If not a simple Militia Assault Rifle can drop you even if you are wear the Assault Drop suit Lvl 2.
I have also been kicked multiple times from games even when in the middle of a corp battle. That is unacceptable, especially when the corp is then down a man and that can change the course of the game. That is minor to other issues, due to the fact when you are kicked your stuff that you lose...oh yeah wait it's not. In corp battle you gain NO...I mean ZERO...NADA...ZIP on Skill points and ISK. Whatever you drop into that fight is pretty lost on shear victory for bragging rights. I will pass on corp battle cause it is difficult at times when I also buy tanks, trucks, and dropships for my guy as well.
Also you can only group up with four guys in a squad, so if you have more than 3 friends, good luck on trying to manage time with all of them. Four man squads is so ******** that I would rather run by myself, though the four man squad can change the course of the battle. The lag makes that almost impossible, and if your fellow war mates are not playing as a team good luck on trying to win as a team. Which team work is not rewarded, yeah you get points for healing teammates but if you do it for so long, it stops. If you heal longer than 30 seconds you dont get the remaining points which is a pain. It is a literal waste of time.
Actually to sum up all of this, this game is a waste of time, space, and money. (Yea you can buy weapons on the game for 30 AUR but if not the blueprint you lose it once your guy dies.) This game is utter garbage and should not have been released to the public even under the condition that it is in. Your time is wasted, you get no where on training your guy even after playing for 3 months at a time. Which by the way if you quit playing for even just a month good luck trying to kill anyone you will be lucky to break even. If you stop playing this game don't even bother trying to pick it back up you will be lost in the DUST. I recommend not even thinking about this game, and I mean thinking about it. Forget playing it, you should forget that you actually played it. It is crap, and I have played crappy games and this game takes the cake. You don't get to hang with your friends, you are not rewarded, you are just a cash cow for CCP. Honestly I wish they would take this game down, and put it in their vault of "F$%# UPS" so I could quit hearing about it. The Hype is ********, this game is crap and should be forgotten about, simple as that.
