I am confused/dissapointed with some things and was hoping some peeps would be kind enough to throw me a bone. Ill try to keep it simple:
1. Most important question - Where's the randomness in the maps? I honestly gotta be missing something here. This was the biggest selling point for me on this game. Unless my comprehension skills are bad -maybe they are- I was under the impression that there were going to be thousands of different maps with different and ever-changing terrain/weather.....I do see the maps occasionally change a mountain or add a slab of grass texture...please tell me thats not what was meant a year ago when they talked about it at Fan Fest Please tell me I'm not missing something and thats just a feature thats around the corner
2. Not seeing the character progression in eve. Spend all these skill points to increase the effectiveness of your character while at the same time increasing the cost to play it. For instance it cost me 100k ISK to run my top end drop suit; and if I die more than once I cannot sustain it. Game forces you to be, in a sense, under-leveled most of the time. And if that's the case, what's the point of progressing any build past bottom-mid tier, what am I missing?
3. I noticed, most likely related to the above, that people don't bother spending quality drops/vehicles if they recognize there on a bad team; vice versa for when they are on a good team. I mean honestly who would spend there 500k+ ISK to drop there beast tank when they know there gonna lose it. Times when your teams losing is when people should have more motivation to drop there good stuff. Seems to just enhance lobsided battles even more...."Oh were steam rolling, time to drop the beast"........what am I missing?
4. Whats the point of having an item viewer when all the items/gear look the same? What am I missing?
5. SIlly question- That red ray solar planets thingy kabob in the merc quarters. Is that there for decoration or is there plans to use it?

I'll take the easy one here. That kiosk has previously allowed you to access the "Star Map". Since CCP are in the process of giving the whole Star Map feature a big overhaul, I can only assume that they were midway into changing the feature when Chromosome was pushed to the server. At that point in time they removed our ability to access the map.

The game is in Beta. Whatever you've heard about the game is what's planned for the future. Currently the few maps we have, some of them change a bit. Time of day, compound layouts (Manus Peak changes quite a bit), terrain.
Right now it's very limited what's being done on the maps.
I hope other people help answering your questions.

1. Currently we wont notice because i think we are stuck playing on just a few planets. It will come soon. The planets are persistant and never change but each planet has that semi random thing where everything is different. With 10000's of eve planets, the map's will very alot.
2. The skills help alot, although just because you can use something doesn't mean you should. Risk/Reward is a big thing to focus on. Top end fits are not meant to be used every match. They are for special occasions. Maybe some can support themselves with proto stuff, but most can't. And many struggle to use full adv stuff all the time. Meant to be that way. Only use what you can afford to loose.
2. The instant matches have no point, use what ever you want. The good stuff is coming soon with district matches where you will use your best gear and it will matter.
3. Do you mean the dropsuit fitting? I'd imagine as time progresses that it will be expanded upon.
4. Do you mean the universe map? It will be very useful when we are open to play on 1000's of planets so we know where we are, what is going on in the solar system, and i'm sure it also will be expanded upon.
Were you watching the ign live stream? Yeah, i was scratching my head on some of the things he said because those things are planned to be in the next build, not this build. |

With the next content update, they'll be adding foliage and probably more maps. Keep in mind they'll be working on this game for years to come, so they'll always be adding more maps. They also had a dusk version of several of the maps that I'm sure they'll bring back eventually.

Once players can start owning their own districts, taking part in planet-industry, and the ISK can flow from EVE to Dust, it'll be much easier to sustain expensive fits. Also, you'll want to progress to get better gear for Corp battles, even if you aren't using it in pub matches.

Doesn't make much sense to spend too much ISK on a pub match that you'll only get 150-350k ISK from knowing you'll run a loss. Corp matches are different.
Quote:4. Whats the point of having an item viewer when all the items/gear look the same? What am I missing?
No point in not having it, really. Some of the top-end aurum items look different and at some point CCP will make stuff that looks more interesting and varied, I'm sure.

OMFG because a game is in beta does not mean its allowed to **** up. Stop making excuses for sloppyness, the game will remain in "open beta" even after the "official release" this is the real game theyre adding more and more to it very, very slowly.
People dont field quality **** because this games combat is based on the eastern principles of combat. More team mates working and moving in one direction can completely over run any enemy. |

Don't forget about your passive skills. There are plenty of ways to spend SP and improve your character without increasing the overhead on your fittings.
I've been actively avoiding skilling into a dropsuit in the hopes that the racial variants will be coming soon, though that no longer seems likely and I really should get my Type II Assault rolling.
With enough passive skills, you can effectively punch above your weight class, so to speak, and when you do move into advanced and prototype stuff, you'll be more cost effective with it. |
