I've been around awhile in this game and I think I am one of the more positive players when it comes to how the game is developing. I'm not a doom and gloom kinda guy.-á
That being said - I get bored. A lot of people are. Grinding is fine, especially if you are an MMORPG type, but I do think we need more variety.-á
Now I know there will be several new game modes coming out but so far, and as far as I have heard, they will have been and will be either objective based or kill based.-á
I'm a fan of both, but sometimes I'd like something different. -áSo I was thinking something halfway in between. Objective like, but without objectives and kill based.-á
So I was thinking about how this game will be about area control in the future. Here is my idea for the time being: tug of war in reverse. Push of war you could say.-á
Essentially its like ambush but with more clones and long rectangular maps. These maps are divided up into areas, much like Battlefield in Rush. However, as I said, no objectives. Just the areas. Once 80% of the team is in an area and 60% or so of the other team is dead or not in the area then control goes to the winning side and the map backs up. Redline will be the area you are targeting and one area behind you. You always spawn one area behind the contested.-á
So it's ambush with 160 or so clones pushing to occupy then area in front of you until the other team is pushed to the end or you take all the areas.-á
This'll give those of us who like strategy goals, and those of us who like killing to do nothing but that and still be the main concern for victory.-á
-áDue to spawns being in the other teams (not your own) redline you won't have to worry about spawn camping. As the area moves back and forth as one team takes it you won't have to worry about everyone getting redlined and sniping till the end. Close good matches will run the full length. Imbalanced matches (which is a matchmaking issue - not a game mode issue) will be over fast and we can all move onto the next game. -áAs it doesn't have objective points players are free to attack, defend, and move as they wish. As it does have an objective goal the tide of battle may be turned. Lost area may be reclaimed.-á
That would be a fun halfway point between skirmish and ambush I think. It would also better support multiple play styles in one map as each area can be designed to fit vehicles, or cqc, or sniping or whatever as the devs see fit.-á
I think it'd be a fun and fairly popular game mode.-á

I like this.
It really strikes me that there would be few "trench" situations, though. I see this being much more like invading an underground bunker or a space station where there are three-dimensional barriers to movement, bombardment, etc.
I remember a few Tribes 2 maps that were like this- a little bit of surface action but the majority of the fighting was going on in an underground complex. |

hmm. in between the frontline trenches put hackable consoles. think Grit Iron (or American football, i called it what the Brits call it) and at the endzone, put a single odjective which when destoryed, wins the game. |

thought it was a good idea i think devs should be looking out for game mode and new map ideas most because it's what they need the most in their game at this point. also tried making my own game mode call infiltration +1 this |

Imp Smash wrote: I really like this. The endzone would have to be opened up as per the game mode concept to prevent one dropship or sneaky scout or Lav from insta winning, but yeah. It would put a nice final touch.
Just don't make the hackable objective in the endzone visible to tacnet or interactive until the enzone is unlocked...that way you don't have to worry about preemptive strikes...

I like the idea too, +1 to that
Making the end hack in a red zone until your team covered about 80% of the terrain could be a possibility, Would make interesting tactic changes. Do I call a dropship and go hack the thing, get my scout suit or just continue pushing? In some situation where alot of players would go Scout at that moment, the game could just be turning around fairly quickly, which could be nice. |

Love this idea , I am sure a lot of the dust community would agree the with the lack of new content, anything to freshen up the game and skills i would like to see, even if it not polished because it is an OPEN BETA, I feel a lil let down by CCP & Dust the fact they havent been able to keep player interested and specially with the talk of DESTINY in the air. I am very surprise there wasn't a sharp movement from the CCP team to keep the word Dust rather than Destiny in the player vocabulary . Please keep this game fresh and adding more stuff and not just AUR stuff, because keeping people on this game will get you more money in the long run. |
