When things start to get heated, sometimes you need to get in just the right position. Sometimes, especially when the fight gets really hard, you need to get in deep. Maybe you don't even have protection, but that just makes it more exciting, right?
And then there's the element of surprise. There's nothing quite like when your opponent thinks it's all over and then you come right out of the sky and just start hammering them.
A lot of people want it. It's natural. We've seen it on videos, we've read about it, and what's more, it's in our blood. We crave it. Sometimes we're not the ones who want to do it. Sometimes we want others to do it for us. And that's okay, too.
But when it comes time, you just can't perform. And why? Maybe it's the unfamiliar terrain, or the danger. Maybe it's because, when it comes, it could be so powerful it would throw the world off its axis.
You know you want it. You have to have it. Someday. But you don't know how. You feel impotent.
That's why we need a tactical insertion module. The ability to insert yourself in just the right spot could be balanced out by how hard it is to fit. Bigger modules would allow for better insertion so that you can come out of nowhere, stick yourself in just the right spot, and really pound your opponent.
I think this will ultimately lead to a satisfying experience for everyone involved.
TL;DR (or you just want the version without double-entendre, although honestly that's half the reason I made this thread):
Being able to choose the precise location where you drop could be accomplished by requiring a module with fitting requirements, maybe in a high-power slot or even in an equipment slot (precluding heavies from using it and consuming a valuable slot on other suits). It would only be used when you actually drop in, and would thereafter just consume a slot and PG/CPU without adding any value. Logistics would need to be worked out for snipers trying to drop in places they shouldn't be able to get to. |

Look for Drop Uplinks on the market, they're equipment. |

EDIT: Some advice, practice hiding them, most of us aren't above camping red drop uplinks we find for easy kills. Also, when you spawn from them, you'll be facing the direction you were when you deployed it. This is specifically addressing the videos we've seen of a soldier dropping in from the sky into a situational position. Drop uplinks have an advantage because of their multiple use and the fact that an entire team or squad can use them. This would be single-use for one person for one drop.
However, thanks for the tip about facing, I hadn't really thought about it before. |
