I pilot tanks. when ever I look at an unloaded texture the frames gp to 0 then comes right back. There is a memory leak when playing over 2 hours where the fps goes to 1. there is no unique thing that happens during the game.. just typical tank rolling. It is completely random.. ashland does this more often than others. But this happens in corp battles and it is unacceptable. NO CONSOLE GAME DOES THIS!! FIX IT!! |

I think because they are using the unreal engine the texture doesn't load right like 90% of the time...
From what I'm told it's a common issue from the unreal engine, and for what ever reason developers that use the unreal engine, don't see it as a problem....(Seriously? Because everyone loves playing with graphics from the 1980's) |

An Ugly but functional work around is to restart DUST before Corp battles. I would really hate doing it. Although, I would do it for an important match.
Personally it seems that a distinct set of Audio Failures announces an impending Frame Rate Crash (or whatever it should be called).
Drop the Feedback from your subject line. Let's not confuse the Devs.
And I would change the subject a bit as well. "HAV play for over an hour ...". I suspect the HAV part is Very Important. I can play for several hours without having to restart. If you consistently have to restart or have Frame Rate issues than this is an important piece of information that the Devs can use to help track it down.
ps: Drop the Caps rant from bug reports, please. Caps just makes computer people ignore the words. Caps in rants can work when used sparingly. Just sayin'. |

Plenty of console games Do Exactly This. It is called Texture pop-in. It can come in many flavors but the best solution is that it happens in the outer sections of the display area so it isn't directly in the users line of sight. It has to happen when there isn't enough memory to handle a particular map/scene/whatever.
So, why is this happening so much with DUST? And why is it so inconsistent for you?
I have recommended this in the past but I suspect it might be a very good idea for you to try.

If that fixes it or makes it significantly better it would be Really Good to know. For a lot of players and not just the Devs.
The other thing that has solved the problem for several players I hang around with is a Solid State Drive. I have been holding off on one but I am getting a little tired of being nearly the last out for the initial spawn. An SSD would eliminate the huge delay caused by the loading of the map and its textures. It is something, sort of expensive, to think about. I wonder how much it would effect all the frame rate issues.
Let us know what you do and or try and how it turns out.
Good Luck.

i also get the extreme framerate lag after a while. me and my friends have just started making a mid-evening reset part of the norm.
it sucks, but it gets you around it. |

I too have experienced this problem as well when playing for an extended period of time. Not sure i can link it to being in a HAV because i randomly drop a tank once in a while, but don't use them that often. It has happened to me about a hand full of times, all after i had been playing for quite a few hours. I can tell when i'm being affected by it right at the beginning of the match. It gets worse when i'm near other people, i try to just take random equipment in skirmish but if any other players are near me it gets really choppy where i can barely move. Just like was mentioned before it seems to be a memory leak of some kind. Hope this helps get it fixed. |

GTFO
this doesnt work. its a subtle problem. not a huge deal.. but every person that rolls in the tank with me gets the fps drop for 1 second. and it happens at the same time. |

Well I Was going to make a generalized statement hinting towards the fact the PS3's been out for a number of years, and that many people don't know that a dusty/dirty/overworked machine does eventually start to overheat. Hard drives could be upgraded, heat sinks could be re-seated, etcetcetc.. But since you're convinced its the developers problem and not yours I'll just pretend to not care, and instead blame the Russians for all your problems... Because Ponies.
