Activision and Bungie are working together on developing a new game called Destiny, due out later this year. It is a Free-to-Play Sci-Fi FPS, much like Halo. Granted, they haven't shown any trailers or gameplay images, but if you know those two monstrous companies..they would crush any competition, including Dust 514. I haven't read through much of the forums, but I saw that the CCP were whacking off on vacation, leaving the game in open beta with no updates and that looks bad. It took them 5 years to make Dust 514 and Destiny was only made in a year. Which means, Destiny has a lot of potential to draw away consumers from Dust since it's also a free-to-play model. I haven't read on whether CCP mentioned if they were gonna include graphics update patch, but I know a lot of impatient, ADHD people want a perfect, working game with gorgeous eye-candy graphics for Dust..I do too, but I'm more patient than most are. But not when it comes to overcrowded FPS games dividing audiences, especially of similar genres. It would be nice if somehow CCP have the resources and manpower to update the graphic textures to keep people playing. Then people would complain less and CCP would have a better chance in the market, especially revenues from people paying for AUR. And Destiny would be on equal footing with Dust 514. What are your thoughts? |

Actually can't wait to try this game, its supposed to be similar to dust just more developed.
If dust isn't up by ps4 time,
I'll switch, dust is just biding my time atm.
Also if it was done in a year, It took dust a year of closed beta to fix terrible bugs, slowly. |

Actually your wrong on two of the pieces of info that you gave. First it comes out next year secondly it has been worked on since halo reach came out. Also activision is a publisher so they only supply money they do not make the game. |

Thoughts? Well they may produce a shiny FPS, but have no chance of comparing to what Dust has to offer solely on the way Dust interacts with a 10 year old successful MMO. Folks will play this game, I probably will, but traditional FPS games have a short lifespan. People will shoot over on release, but eventually run out of interest when they've prestiged or whatever endgame it is for that game.
What Dust offers to the FPS crowd is an emergent game that is player driven in content and never "won". Some people will play only for the graphics and be drawn off by prettier games. So be it. CCP is banking on what has turned out to be so far correct. Traditional FPS players want more than just a shiny game.
I don't follow your thinking that some shiny shooter will "Blow Dust out of the water." |

The OP is correct that Bungivision's marketing reads like it was copied from Dust. Heck, it almost reads like a "meanwhile, back at the ranch..." for the Milky Way. |

What are your thoughts? im not going to even read this because im tired of these posts. Seriously we know absouletly nothing about destiny besides its a fps and whos making it. Seriously it will prob be a good game but who knows. Will it crush dust lol just lol. The hardcore are here for what dust will be we are here for that game where is a win is more then a word displayed at the end of a victory. Where a win is something that changes a universe. Will that be in destiny probably not. If destiny is good ill play it as well. But everone leaving dust to destiny wont happen... I dont think dust will be as competitive and that what i look for in games. If its fun ill play but competition is everything to me. I think im in the right game for a WHILE. If some are here for a other reason besides competition lets face it they were going to leave sometime anyway. |

There was glimpses of gameplay at the Sony conference. Destiny and dust are going to be good in their own right, just like some people who play gta also play saints row, people will play both dust and destiny. One isn't going to take away from the other. I'll be playing destiny AND dust, im not joining the fanboy bandwagon for either game. Dust is awesome, destiny will be awesome too. |

I get the feeling that DUST is more PVP oriented (yes dust will have PVE, but i doubt it will be the main focus) and that game is more PVE. Regardless, i don't put much stock in games that are hyped up. I still say DUST has more potential than anything that will ever come out. The devs need only bring it out. other than that, we don't even know much about destiny. |

Destiny sounds like SWTOR of Console FPSes. WoW-ish PvE with friends, but generic and character progression copied from someone else. Plus, it is Co-op and not an mmo therefore no universes, no planetary conquests, no interaction with other worlds (separate ps3 and xbox words too)... and bleh. It will look pretty, and thati's about it. But hey, by the time Destiny goes out DUST will look damn good as well. |

Well destiny will be more popular than dust since Activision is marketing it that guarantee that you'll see ads of it everywhere , hell you already see ads of it now , plus you got Bungie who been making games like Myth , Oni , Marathon , and pretty much made the Xbox popular . Whatever or not if either game will be better will remain to be seen. Saying either one is before either of them game out is Fanboyism.
They will be different , but share some similarities which means Destiny will be compared to Dust 514. But the only people that will care about this are fanboys , and I am already seeing some of that I think most people will play both. |

So a major difference between the two is that Sony really wants dust to succeed. They see the immense value in a long running multiple-console generation game that has a huge player base. If dust can get a decent player base then when a new gen of ps comes out people will have to buy it to keep up. And dont tell me that doesn't work, because we all saw it did with the trinity upgrade to eve..

From what I'm reading about the game, it'll be like Mass Effect but with a somewhat Demon's Souls world-changing events type thing (the world tendency parts)...its not an MMO (I've heard differing amounts, but most say between 1 and 4 person games...something like Borderlands-type co-op), only the world itself is influenced in an MMO-like fashion (what everyone does in their game influences what the worlds will be like).
Destiny has as much chance at competing with Dust as it does compete with CoD IMO...it more is in competition with DA3 and whatever the next Mass Effect and Bethesda games are. |
