FPS literally means "First-Person Shooter"...
Dust's gameplay is a shooter, in the first-person point-of-view (vehicles the exception, you can toggle the PoV), with some RPG elements (skill point leveling and a market to buy consumables)
To say Dust is not a shooter...is to troll... |

Right now, Dust is actually closer to what CoD and BF are than it is to an MMO-FPS, IMO. Gotta get to the MAG-level of players (256 people in a match) in a match to really be a Massively-Multiplayer game...right now its closer to a 'mainstream' shooter with pub matches doing nothing in the grand scheme of things and even the corp matches doing little overall (FW matches are the exception). As for mechanics...all the 'traditional' shooter elements are there...maybe not polished, but they're there...
But there's one thing for sure...its a shooter, and always will be. Heck...EVE is technically a shooter, since you shoot ships (and other things) in space...(yes, I know that's a bit of a stretch, but still...) |
