One of the most annoying things I have noticed as a scout suit sniping is when you can clearly see the enemy through your scope, you fire and see the shield response, but to no avail as you didn't hit the target. The situation I am refering to is someone hiding behind cover (most of the time at a far distance).
The only two explanations I have thought of to come up with this is lag (which i understand there is no way to really handle). The other, which I think is the problem I am having when trying to take out enemy snipers is the fact that at far distances (for the purpose of the game running smoothly), the game does not draw all the polygons for the object in the distance. So when I am looking through my scope and clearly have them in sight, I actually do not because the land is actually obscuring them.
My idea for fixing this is when you scope, since it is very much tunnel visioned at that point is you increase detail on what we are viewing through the scope. Since its a much smaller area we are viewing, it shouldn't hurt the frame rate, and it would solve the issue of thinking that the target is a clear shot.
Just an idea! |

pretty sure its to do with the way things like rocks are coded for as polygons. visually they're see through, so you cant detect them, but bullets interact and bounce off.
happens a lot... really annoying.... |

Although i have seen it at closer ranges, my comment was more based on the at range shots (ones that require a sniper rifle). But a good point to bring up that this also occurs at close range |
