Not trolling.
Without a mouse, the SR is the hardest weapon to use in the game.
Huge Sway, Low ammo, Completely vulnerable while firing, and again without a mouse hitting someone who isn't completely still or running in a straight line is almost pushing impossible.
Even if you do manage to hit someone, they shake it off like it was nothing more than a mosquito bite, but this is understandable since in a game like this, Snipers being used as more of a support role to drop shields and finish off the limping survivors makes more sense. More luck is involved with this weapon than any other.
I respect all the non-redline snipers out there, even though your missing 9/10 of your shots, I salute you for sticking with it |

Correction the MD is the most skill intensive weapon in the game, we have to lead targets, adjust for round drop, our enemies can jump over the blasts, if we're not careful we can injure ourselves in CQ. snipers however once you crouch are basically point and click |

It's not really that hard. It takes a little practice to adjust to DUST's aiming but after that it's all lols.
Most people run in straight lines. If you know where their head will be, your reticle can wait for them there.
With regards to the lack of damage a sniper rifle is doing... it's usually 2 body shots to kill someone, unless they're huge in which case it can take up to 5... but you shouldn't be shooting their body.
While crouching, the sway is gone after a second... and the ammo is enough to take down one target per reload, allowing for one missed shot. |

Using the Forge Gun for anti-infantry is the most skill-intensive gun in the game.
Actually winning with the Nova Knives is the most skill-intensive anything in DUST period. |

I stand corrected
As for those who say they're killing people with 2 shots. 2 shots is one of the main reasons it's so hard to use. If you hit the guy with the first shot and he survived, you can guarantee he's going to do 1 of 2 things-
1.) Take cover and heal up, making you now have to take 2 more shots to take him down.
2.) Turn to whatever direction you shot him from and start sprint-zig-zagging towards you with a bullet in his chamber that has your name on it. You're going to die |

90% of the time the second shot happens just as he registers the damage and comes out of ADS.
He's up to 500m away. I've got a long time to adjust for his slow zig-zag.
I'm higher than he's accounting for or sitting my reticle on where he's going to emerge from cover.
This is a troll thread or OP shouldn't be a sniper.

Or this is a legitimate thread and OP has killed over 1000 snipers with your way of thinking and she decided to give those who use the weapon a little respect in the midst of all the "Snipers are worthless" threads.

You caught me. I'm anti love and respect.
I accounted for it being a legitimate thread with the "OP shouldn't be a sniper option".
I'm disagreeing with the part where aiming is hard and sniping is dangerous because enemies will run towards the sniper. If OP finds sniping hard. OP shouldn't be a sniper. Do you disagree? |

Try using a tactical AR on CQC or landing kills with breach smgs. Also headshooting with a 30'+ tv is just soo easy.

if you dont have the right skills in game and actual skill any weapon could be the most skill intensive. Just pick the weapon you are most comfortable with and stick with it. If you want to get good with a certain weapon talk to someone who uses it efficiently and dont give up until you can use it efficiently. Im not good with snipers but i could find one in my corp and learn. |

You know what I love when im sniping?
People that try to bunny hop. They have such a slow and predictable arch I can nearly always tag them a second time at the apex of their jump.

And on a related note, what do you do when you get a kill as a sniper? When I'm on Chick Chicky Boom I do this dance. I make sure that I ALWAYS do that move with my legs 15 seconds in.
And whenever people get killed by me, I hope they know that I'm doing this dance behind the redline too, because "when I start to dance everything goes chick chicky boom, chick chicky boom."

Alina Heart wrote:-- snip -- Huge Sway -- snip -- I respect all the non-redline snipers out there -- snip -- To the parts I didn't snip I feel qualified to respond to.
Sway is poorly done but it is made significantly worse with a Bad or Weak controller.
There is an internal cable in the DS3 and it has no actual connector. It is held against the contacts with two posts. One of mine the hole in the cable had broken. Every other game I have plays fine. DUST fails with it constantly. The connection is a really cheap and Kitten Fecal Matter method and Sony should be ashamed (they aren't because, first, they would have to care).
Also, plugging in your second controller to charge it while playing DUST will drive DUST nearly nuts. I finally quit doing it. Along with buying a New controller on sale that solved Most of my DUST controller issues. If CCP/Shanghai would fix the near constant resets (the Hack Reset Bug) the controller would be okay. That hasn't happened so far.
CCP has no concept of leaning against a railing or building as in the Far Far Future nobody would use an available object to stabilize oneself. Might get dirty down in the DUST. Not to mention a Scope that has Frakking Zoom. Or multiple levels of Digital Zoom that would normally handle Bullet Drop. Which the Devs are rumoring is actually due Soon (tm) which is just Stupid (tm)*.
Non-Redline Snipers is another Kitten Excrement Scrapings phrase.
Note that there are Two Red Lines. One for the Attacker and a different set for the Defender. Those Red Line Red Snipers are in the Reds normal play area and cannot see the Red Line you are grousing about.
* Both Soon (tm) and Stupid (tm) are Trademarks of CCP. Not legally, just actually. |
