At least for assault the "p2w" proto suits are vk0's, and nobody in their right mind would use one of these garbage suits. Type-B > vk0 by a LONG shot. Type-I, type-A, and vk0 are pure crap. No idea why these are even in the game, as nobody wants to use them (for good reason).
If CCP wants to see more armor tanks, then they need to get rid of the ridiculous speed-gimp that comes with armor tanking. Otherwise this game will remain shield-tank central for the remainder of its life. |

Seriously with no modules at all shields recharge at a decent rate, armor only recharges if you have mods for it, and even then at a VERY slow pace. At this point, there is zero reason to armor tank. Sure you can armor tank with a whole bunch of damage mods, but when you are as slow as a turtle it makes no difference. A type-II is more practical than a vk0 is equipped right. |

Now I can get a Vk.0, run it with 347 shields, 566 armor, and only be slowed to about the speed of a regular Type-I Logi suit. I used to run Logi suits when I first started the beta 6 months ago, so moving slow with an AR is no issue for me.
Basically what I'm saying is
1) if you know how to run it, a Type-I can be just as good as Type-II. They just require different playstyles.
and
2) this proto suit can give me a shield level I am used to running PLUS MORE THAN DOUBLE the armor backup than I'm used to, that's enough to make it useful.
Not sure what you were running against me tonight, you got me a few times, I got you a few times. And I really have to admire that nade you killed me with! Plum throw on your part!
Just between you me and the fence post, that nade saved your life , cause you were next |
