The fact is, the gameplay is beginning to feel dull for me because of the extremely few amount of maps.
I'm sorry to whoever thinks there's ANYTHING more important right now, there's a functioning game here thats just getting boring cause of limited map selection. This is the biggest issue there is because everything else 'works' in such a way that it doesn't make me want to stop playing the game.
The other day I had an awesome firefight though, it was as though each team had their own captured bit of land, its between objective C and B inside one of them compounds there, that was so much fun (specially cause Im a Logi, Mmm warpoints). I'm thinking more maps designed around having moments of awesome firefights, but in the end.. more maps.
My 2 cents
P.S. Assault suit needs some work I hear, but thats something else
edit: perhaps this should be in features/requests...? |

I'd be fine with the number of maps we have if they were just BIGGER. I know the plans are in the works, but I'm really waiting for the day that anybody actually needs a dropship pilot to get from A to B. For now, I'll just lug my Type-II Heavy around. It's not what I enjoy doing the most, but it's fun for now. |

Yeah, more heightmaps is starting to be critical.
I know the terrain too well already, and I've got less than half the time on them that a lot of people do.
I fully understand that CCP is really struggling to get the "recipe" system to function correctly with a small number of maps, which is a good thing from a development standpoint.
But this is an OPEN beta now.
We need more variety of maps. |

I am sure I will be corrected,but it seems that when the maps start getting dark,as in evening time or night,a new build or maps seem to come directly after. |

the number of maps isnt horrible, although I agree its time for new maps.
the problem is frequency of map variation. I often get stuck playing the EXACT SAME MAP 4 out of 5 maps, never seeing the others for quite some time.
This is extremely evident in skirmish where I believe there are 5 different maps, along with manus peak providing like a dozen variations to B and C. I see that map 8 out of every 10 skirmishes I play, which is a major factor why I dont play them often anymore |

The existing maps are starting to get pretty stale.
And we are supposedly two years into development. CCP have stated that 'dust would take place on thousands of worlds' infact it is a key selling point of the game. Its something they are yet to deliver on and I can't help but feel "working on core game play" is an excuse designed to buy more time. They have made some effort with the live events but all they really did weas change the name. Changing the name does not make it thousands of worlds, it makes it the 4 same worlds with thousands of names.
Its not helped by the fact that you can get the same map three or four times in a row (maybe more, but I only play three to four games a day).
Hurry up CCP, fatigue is setting in, even amoungst you most ardent supporters. |

I yes we need some new maps. I am growing increasingly bored with the current maps.
also why does assault suit need work? I use that and I can get 10+ kills and 3- deaths. |

Ya game is getting a little boring with the same old maps and getting the same skirmish map 3 times in a row. I'd say 80% - 90% of people who I've played the game with have dropped their game play to one login a week or dropped out altogether. The events are a joke and are usually over with by the time I log on. I've read the lore CCP posts behind them and it doesn't make any sense to me putting that lore with an already overplayed map with no game play difference. Some half ass attempt at tying the game to Eve perhaps?
Don't get me wrong I like the game and see a lot of potential. But really any game has a lot of potential. Yes I know it's still a beta, yes I know it's not the final product and that they will always be improving it. However, the game still has A LOT of glitches left to fix and we don't even have all the features and components of the game up and running yet. I've also yet to see any glitches I've come across get fixed yet. I hear about a lot of "stuff" that will be coming but I also hear Jesus is coming back soon to. So hurry up and deliver before Jesus gets here.
PS....U.V.T. even though I have one needs to go.

I rather have the map generator working. Playing on 1-3 tiles is not enough also the larger tiles need their own sub tiles. |

Agreed, I hate how the center of Skim Junction is just one big tile, needs more variation than that. And how Ashland and Line Harvest never change tiles. Fix those two things and it'll already feel loads better.

Watch CCP seeding the universe on youtube. Its during last year fanfest. You will notice that CCP has plans for Dust 514 to have over 1000 maps.
There are 7000 planets in EVE online, probably 2000 something temperate planets which you can walk on. Plus 20 something districts on each planets. A district is like a current map in dust 514. So 20 something maps on 1 planet with over 2000 or more planets in new eden. Just wait.

Gotta admit, that quote-of-the-day is pretty funny.
I bet even Jesus would grow impatient with so few maps after such a long time, when the initial promise was "thousands" of unique planets to fight on...

eve has about 7000 solar systems (inc. Wormholes)
not including Wormholes, EVE has 5000 Temperate planets.

I would like to see water in maps, like a harbour or something. Temperate planets do have a habit of containing some liquid water and Humans have a knack of liking the liquid for all kinds of things. |

I know it can hurt when you run into a wall, but I'd expect an armored exo-suit capable of atmospheric deployment would be capable of scraping up against a boulder without taking area impact damage.
For that matter, I'd also expect not to take damage when jumping over a 10 foot railing if I can jump from an MCC with inertial dampeners.
That's just my 2 cents on the terrain damage system. |
