Philosophically, yes, they are. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet... Just because a tanker pays more and spends more SP doesn't make them any less identical to redline snipers. Both are low-risk high-reward systems. Also if a decently speced tanker is getting destroyed by a militia tank, then they truly suck. Oh and ambush OB's are pretty few and far between, especially when playing against 100% solo players.
low risk high reward??? more high risk low reward since it takes 2-8 games to earn the ISK fot a HAV that can be killed easily by 3 enemies in a free default class.
on skirmish tanks have safety of red zone when damaged but on ambush tanks only hav risk of AV spawnin with HAV in range, being in a HAV is as risky as being against a HAV |

I know there's a team vehicle quota but i'm not sure what it is. I'd say make it a limit of 4 tanks in Skirmish and 2 in Ambush.
its 5 tanks per team but its rare that all 5 survive since thats 10 players (on average 2 ppl per tank) so likely about 6-8 enemies are AV, thats more than enough to insta kill tanks |

I had only reached the team quota for LAVs, though i didn't count and the most team HAVs i've seen in a battle was 4. Still, it seems there's no difference from Skirmish to Ambush and there is were i'd change something. 4 tanks in an Ambush (i've seen that) is a bit over the top. A lower team quota for Ambush would probably make sense, let's also not forget that most maps for that mode are a lot smaller.
ive seeen 5 tanks on ambush a few times but its rare and usually 2 or 3 are militia tanks, ive even seen 2 tanks fight 4 on the small rocky map, but way i see it is everythings gotta balance.
more tanks on field means less infantry therefore allowing more AV which reduces tanks, then increases infantry to combat the AV troops... however many HAV drivers are known to rege quit after tanks get destroyed |

well you can get a tank for 150k ISK ready to go thatll last a noob 5 mins or get a spec'd out tank for 500k-1mill ISK after 1mill + SP that SHOULD survive a while longer |
