It's amazing how I browse the forums looking for news and information and by page three of the topic a subject has gone from expressing an opinion to "This is a beta quit complaining." "STFU and just leave and quit playing." "No one cares what you think." Forums are here for people to take what they think and throw it out to a community. These opinions are for the most part going to be negative because if your happy your not moved to express like when your upset.
This IS a beta, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be upset about certain things being incomplete. There are several people here that have either played or worked on betas before, I have myself, however the thing most people don't seem to understand is CCP's idea of what a beta is maybe far different than the other companies that we have flavored. I've never been part of a beta that is so lacking in the components that the developer has stated would be in the finished project, however I never played Minecraft's beta. Which if I had to compare development models I would say that is the closest one. At any rate why get mad at people when they state they have a problem. Why can't we just reason with them about it.
Things I'd like to see. I see this general topic a lot and it always gets reduced to a **** contest, which is pointless. If I want to see more models and visual difference and you want more ironed out core components then if they start working on mine it will not slow them working on yours. These to facets are generally to different departments. Visual Arts and coding are two different groups of people. Just because they are working on making my gun shiny doesn't mean they aren't also working to balance your weapons. |

I've been on closed / open betas for quite a few AAA titles and this ain't nothing like I have ever seen.
I'm not drawing an analogy, just stating a view. The last beta I was on where the company clammed up like this they eventually shelved the project and re-released about 18 months later after major rework. |
