My younger brother has taken an interest in this game so he went and made a logi. To be completely honest, he's not all that great of a marksman so strictly gunplay won't suit him. The only recommendation would be for him to invest in mass drivers but other than that I got nothing. Advice?
Oh, and can dropship pilots actually fire anything or is that only from the turret men onboard? I was considering to tell him to be some sort of pilot, whether that be HAV or dropship. |

If he likes playing logistics have him train into logi vehicles. He could cruise around in his cheap LAV keeping friendly vehicles alive. If he's feeling confident, have him run a logi dropship. |

You should play a heavy and team up to the effect of EFFFING Shizzle UP son!
Your BROTHER wants to be a logi? furk sake dude! That's golden! Make him reap SPs off you while you fight, live longer and are more effective. You guys should be able to team up and really hammer the battlefield and hit your skill cap in a day!.. derp. at least you guys will have fun and have lots of ISK.
at any rate, I'd start with that mind frame and get good at it. |

Only gunners can fire from dropships; the pilot has enough on his/her hands flying the damn thing and managing modules as it is.
If marksmanship is something he struggles with, I would suggest NOT using mass drivers. They, contrary to popular belief, definitely require some degree of accuracy, timing, marksmanship and intuition.
If he is planning on always having someone to support, perhaps a laser rifle or shotgun. Bear in mind though, assault rifles are fine for anyone with any degree of accuracy. Specialising into any weapon makes it far easier to use. As long as he manages to tag a target a couple of times, that's already helping out any nearby friendlies. |

LOL. We only have one PS3 which is MINE. So what are the ways for him to earn easy SP? Repair tool + drop uplink?
But you did mention some good advice like having him just follow a heavy around and repairing him.
As for weapons, lolol, he sucks at shooting. He sprays 90% of the time. |

I would make him play as a medic... to use more his injector and his repair if he's not good at marksman (it pay well in SP) For the weapon would give him a SMG or Shotgun. and for the dropship he can't shot but he need to be really good because it is hard to keep this thing in the air. |

I actually just remembered that drop ship pilots don't receive any SP for their arduous task of flying through live fire. Probably wouldn't have him spec into that. (Do they get points for kamikaze kills? LOL. Not a serious question BTW)
I think that concludes all of my questions. Having him play as a medic would probably benefit him the most. As for weapons, he just needs to get good I guess. |

Well, lol. When you guys grow up and have separate PS4s or whatever and separate internet connections. And bedrooms. My post will be far more valuable ;)
To start, he should just play. He'll get better.
FWIW, I wish my brother would play! But he has no interest. ah well. |

Lol that got me laughing. But no, we have separate bedrooms. He played his first match and I was completely blown away by the results. He had 9 kills / 0 deaths with 1k worth of skill points in Ambush OMS. Not bad for someone who sucks at shooters. |

What blew my mind was that he was using the standard artificer set and he did WAAAY better than me in my first match (Ambush OMS vs. a squad of imperfects, giants, and L.O.T.I.S.......HUGE LOL)
And on a second note, how do you know my first initial? I don't see how you can view anyone's PSN from here nor have I ever played with you in-game. |

haha.. man. you guys are lucky. My brother and I had to share a room replete with bunkbeds until we were in high school.. Then we just took the bunk beds apart :)
tell him to just practice with an Alt character, not worry about dying.. and just shoot people. he can even shoot teammates to get better. just tell him to spread it around hehe. |

hmmm advice for being a logi? well im a logi and the best advice i can give you is master your core skills and try not to die on the battlefield!!!!!
lol seriously don't die, people aim for logi's like we have a big red bulls eye painted on us
so yeah have him carry a nanite injector, nano hive and a repair gun
reviving someone +60 WP, nano hive +10/12 WP for replenishing team mates ammo, repairing someone +25 WP so if he does all that he can earn more SP than regular mercs who only kill for +50 WP per person.
if your brother heals a heavy who's almost dead you're looking at about 150 WP from him alone!! |

Do not get fixed in the "a logistics is there to heal" mindset. If you want to really contribute, you will need a good gun game. Killing is faster and therefore more efficient than healing; but as the logistics quirk you are able to oil your team by repping them up between fights.
If you want to focus in healing, logistics LAV and dropship are fairly one track roles, you help deploy to fights and keep your mates going. |

Oh, this isn't for me. This is for my lil'bro. First match he played yesterday, he got 9/0 with 1,000+ WP. I was quite surprised. But I did tell him to heal teammates often. Oh, just how powerful are remote explosives? Enough to one-shot a heavy? He's good at trap-setting but doesn't know if he should invest into that fully. |

Seriously, OP, i'm glad your brother is into this. Check out my guide in the training grounds. As long as he can read - or you explain it to him - it is pretty basic to follow on training skills and your first initial dropsuit setups.

I've received some good feedback on it and really worked on it to make it a base for understanding and playing with the logi build. |

Bojo, you forgot the guy above.
RedBleach quite literally wrote the book and most of those you've posted have assisted with the work and agree with it, as do I.
EDIT: Glad this was moving to Training Grounds... never would have seen it otherwise. Seriously, Training Grounds is THE forum. General is just a lot of temper tantrums and nonsense with the occasional good idea which should probably be in Request/Feedback which isn't much better. |
