Yea I have noticed that and I do feel like more than half of these forums are full of idiots, trolls, and sheeple. Giving exact dates can either comfort people or have a negative effect if it becomes delayed. You cannot start programming and think to yourself, "I will have all of this done in 10,000 lines of code which could take XX:XX amount of time." It could take half the amount of time or lines of code or it can take double. Truth is CCP does not know exactly.
The usage of the word "SOON" does comfort the less educated thinking it can happen anytime between now or a month from now but without really knowing when. The longer time progresses, the more the word "Soon" can be used to convince people that they are much closer to a given update. But all they really know is that they are closer than the previous time they were told "soon". Without any sort of progress reports or points of references people can convince themselves of this easily and be satisfied with the answer "soon". |
