The reticule on the HUD seems better since it has ranging lines on it that are fairly intuitive; the farther your target, the lower the line used, easy. But the pop-up sight makes no sense. If you set the high line on the target, you shoot your feet; if you try the low line, the weapon model obscures your vision. Could any other MD users set me straight on this?
The site's are actually very similar to mortar or artillery sites, implying that you could fire a shot, then reduce your angle by a number of degrees to get more accurate. Essentially you could find a spot on a map you like, and using the numbers determine what angle you would need to be at to hit a certain spot. Would work as such...
You find a favorite spot on a map, maybe a nice high area. You note a platform a certain distance away you usually get shot at from, and the piece of cover they're usually darting behind when you return fire. After a few trials you discover the angle you need to have the MD at to hit just behind that piece of cover, hurting the person attacking you. From then on, you know exactly the angle you need to aim at in order for the shot to hit that point.
This can also be used for areas that are frequently contested hotspots, like Clone Facilities. Using someone on your team to 'spot' for you. You can arc shots from a distance away to land in the general area, much like a mortar shell.
So in this example say a clone facility is being actively contested. You're too far away to run there and help, so you go to a predetermined spot to lob shots into the area. You begin firing at the arc you've determined and explosives shells begin raining down on the area, hopefully causing some damage/panic among the enemies contesting it. Any team mates in the area can advice you on where to angle the shot to hit more people.
(All of this is theoretical as ive yet to really test it out lol. But I assume this would work better with the high AOE low damage variant) |
