IMO the best set up with scouts as far as high and low slots is just to use profile dampeners, range amplifiers, and precision enhancers. They're called scouts because they're supposed to scout the otherteam. Does having very low profile makes you undetected by eye or it's just by radar? Because if it's the radar, then in most cases the sniper doesn't need it, because you rarely encounter someone near you since you're far away and even in your team's redline.
Depends on the sniper. To answer the question, a low profile does not make you harder to see visually (like a cloak).
Hillside sniping doesn't need damps often, enhancers are the key and low slots can have speed mods or whatever. Countersnipers can see you visually just fine, and if someone is chasing you down, they either already know where you are or can follow the sound of your shots to get close enogh to get a visual. In this case you just want to be able to see them coming for you.
Damps work well for ground level/near ground level tac sniping, where you are moving alot and being chased occasionally.

Personally I prefer a run and gun sniper fit. An Assault suit with Rifle and SMG, Remotes and Damage mods. This I think is perhaps the best sniper/counter sniper fit that leaves me still able to be a part of the team instead of a useless body in the hills.

Good point. I've never really considered a logi suit for sniping solely because the sidearm slot outweighs the benefits of the extra equipment slot IMO. I've used the same kit as BL4CK FRIAR in previous builds and it is a great way to go. My sniper this build uses scout for the mobility. Even in an assault suit, if I got countersniped it was almost always a headshot so the added durability of the assault suit was moot. At low SP as my sniper is, this allows me to easily cross to a shotgun hacker scout. Also fun and deadly. |
