Okay, so here goes. Feel free to laugh, flame, whatever, you can't make me feel worse than I already do playing this game. I have 650,000-ish SP. I haven't spent any since I created my character. I have been trying to figure out what I wanted to do. I have another character I try random stuff on trying to see what all fits and what doesn't. Here's where I am:
Heavies are fun, HMG and Forge Gun are a blast, a bit impractical while solo however. I like the Shotgun Scout, but I feel as tho it isn't going to remain viable, and that it is kind of cheesy. Sniping is fun, but I feel absolutely worthless to the team. My aim is too bad for the AR, Laser, and Mass Driver. I get too angry to be a tanker because if I lost a half million isk fit, I'd be pissed, and probably quit. I don't see the point of LAVs or Dropships as they currently are.
I have no clue wtf to do. |

try dropships you can use militia variants to try them out , they can be nearly as expensive as tanks and die even faster but flying might hook you, it might not though, if you do go the DS route try the channel condor squad for help.
In the meantime though max weaponry it'll eat a chunk of your sp but its worth it no matter what you do, i also reccomend getting points into circuitry, combat engineering, field mechanics, and shield boost if you can, those are all passive skills that will help you no matter what role you choose.
Now in your post it sounds like you enjoy playing heavy the most, so stick with the above and get some points into the HMG skill, it'll help you get better gear, i also recommend you skill into at least one type of suit so you can get better gear than militia, this is particularly important for heavies. As to what you said about it being impractical that depends on the map and i have to say running with a squad makes the game so much more fun, so join an active corp. |

It seems like you enjoy the weapons accociated with the heavy suit so why not run with that. If you have a buddy who likes Logisitics get together and lay waste to your foes.
For that build I would say to work on either your shield or armour skills since its more effective to specialise in one aspect that both. Armour would be brawlers, shields for more hit and run style stuff. Also work up weaponry to level 5 and make sure eHMG Operation and either Forgegun or Swarn Launcher Operation is atleat well specced.
For Mods you can throw together a few Enhanced Heavy Weapons Damage...not sure how many High Slots the Heavy Suit has... and maybe an Armour Repairer or if you went for shields the shield regulator. This way you are balancing Damage out put with a passive Armour regen.
I was in your shoes not to long ago and went through half a dozen character types before settling on a Shield Assault and I love it. |

Maybe this:
Assault suit with a sniper rifle, SMG, and repair tool What you'll basically be doing is running with some people, repairing them, and countersniping the enemy. SMGs can get the job done, and don't need much aim. |

If you have a squad that you can run with and you truly don't know what you'd like to play then figure out what they need and play that. If you do have a given style that you enjoy (HMG/Forge?) then skill into that and either play with or find a squad that compliments your chosen role (if you're heavy find a Logi and Assault to run with, or at least a Logi).
While you're still undecided you can invest in key support skills to develop your character. Support skills guide.
Hope that helps
