and DUST has people that worked on battlefield on it. whats your point? There are dozens of threads like this on the forums now from people like you who have played for how long? A week less? This game has made incredible strides in the last year and will continue to do so. Now some would say those strides are meaningless but I have faith in CCP and I could care less about some other game that might release in a few months. EVE started out as not the best game out there and now it's known as one of the most challenging and entertaining games on the market. |

Destiny wont be even close to an MMO that DUST will be. Meaning, consequences, choices u wont encounter another game that emphasize those words like they are emphasized in New Eden. |

Why is it that people are constantly comparing Dust to other games that have release videos? The fact of the matter is that were are testing a Beta. The devs are testing core game play aspects as well as some things that they are integrating into both dust and eve. These are not the release graphics. There will be a graphics update coming, but for now we have to deal with this unpolished version of the game. Just as Eve received a makeover with its trinity expansion (Dec 07) we will probably receive a graphics update upon full release of the game, or maybe sooner so the devs can test the servers or what not... Be patient, and baring that, have fun playing whatever other game you want..... |

Very different game. Its more PVE focused, closer to Borderlands meets Guild Wars 2. There is pvp, but I'm not expecting anything similar to Dust in this regard seeing as its more about story-driven social PVE experience. |

Except that it was announced at the PS4 unveil that Destiny was coming out on the PS4 with PS4 exclusive features.
Besides Destiny is a completely different game to DUST, Destiny is about story driven, multiplayer PVE experiences with RPG elements and DUST is set in an existing sandbox world which is focused on player interactions and PVP battlefield conquest.
It's like comparing Battlefield to Halo. |

I'm thinking Destiny on PS4 will blow serious chunks, especially with the PS3 version. Bungie seemed ashamed to be on stage representing Sony, and I have little doubt that this multi-platform game will be favored on the box 720 first and foremost. And I bet it will be the PS4's first garbage 720 port (any long-time PS3 owners know about the absolutely horrid 360 multi-platform ports from 06, 07 and 08  ...)
Granted It's a FPS game developed by Bungie and I will definitely keep my eye on it. But unless PS4 is the absolute dominant system, we will just get sloppy seconds as usual and it will be a garbage afterthought PS4/3 port that the cleaning staff for Bungie will work on during weekends. |

Ok, this has been bugging me for a while... what the heck does PVE and PVP stand for?
Best I came up with is Player vs Everyone, and Player vs Player. But that makes little sense a lot of the time.
Damn EVE lingo!  Wish this forum had filters that made specific words highlight in which you can hover the mouse over and it explains what the term means (love forums that do this!). |

I am an UO, EQ player foremost but,
Its been since Ultima Online, EQ & Wow that there has been a worthy MMO title to play longer then a month...
The only Sci-Fi game that is still standing from that era is EVE, Bioware failed with Swtor, NCsoft failed Hard with Tabula Rasa, Planet Side 2 is merging servers already (that was fast) and guildwars 2 is a failure, not to mention Rift is dead, Tera failed and i could go on.
So, in the last decade there has been NO good mmo that could retain enough people to fill up a few 2000 people limit servers, so for me personally until i see Everquest Next the only company that has had any luck with keeping people playing is ccp and sadly Wow (the game that destroyed the MMO market) but nows its Kung FU panda online....
So why is Destiny gonna beat the **** out of its competition again?
Because it looks nice on paper ? because they got this cool demo ? -> Aliens: Colonial Marines had cool stuff too worked on it for 6 years but its utter garbage now.
Ill believe it when i see it. (release) and when it can floet for 3 months without crashing down. |

Dust has no PvE yet, once that drone horde mode thing is added, that'll be PvE (possibly PvP as well). |

Truth of the matter is no one knows really anything about destiny, especially some of the people in this thread.
Fact is that it is coming out soon and CCP hasnt shown anything that will grab their potential playerbase.
It was ok for CCP to talk a big game about things to come, but that was when we thought other games of this magnitude were 2-3 years off.
Obviously CCP has staying power but if you think Bungie/Destiny doesnt also have a "10 year plan" you are foolish. |

tbh depends on what kind of game destiny is
the videos shown didnt show off anything competitive wise, all the hints dropped have been about social coop play
Ppl throw out the word "persistent" alot as well
MAG was apparently "persistent" but unless there is some actual meaning to the persistence and not just some bs for story driven play then meh
Destiny does look good tho and im keepin an eye on it whether its coop mainly or not.
Defiance is also persistent but again another persistent game with no real meaning. Whats the point of shooting ppl if ur not owning anything? just log on shoot some folks, do some missions rinse and repeat? that gets boring over time and if Destiny follows that route it will get boring over time |

Regardless of how you try to differ them, they are both in the same genre ~MMO's. And regardless of how differennt they are, there will be competition. To think otherwise is being ignorant. Both games will be on the PS4 and both games will attract players from the same audience pool. To say that because CCP has a couple of battlefield employees working with them is vastly different and miniscule compared to the Entire Bungie team who brought us Halo and the multiple titles following it working on Destiny. they are very well known for their excellent work in bringing us a polished package of graphics, sound, story and gameplay.
I hope CCP takes full advantage of this headstart they have over Bungie because currently the anticipation of Destiny is already spreading like wildfire. There's a reason there's so many threads on the subject. Why would anyone trash the Op for speculation? Isn't that what we've always done? |

Entity in this case would be AI. Drone infestations will be the primary source for PvE |

Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... I'm going to go ahead and say from what's available DUST is infinitely deeper both in lore and RPG mechanics. Probably a larger universe as well. CCP has got what should be an insurmountable head start. |
