Well, well, where to start?
What region are you in (NA/EU/etc.) and why didn't you tell them?
What GMT has this happened which should include the date. Don't forget to use the GMT date as yours might be different.
What map were you playing on? The map name and whether it is Skirmish or Ambush would help. Here is where they are:
https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=forum&c=235
Was this a Corp match or public?
Were you in squad or lone wolfing about?
This Forum is for Bugs, which are usually indicated with a [Bug] in the beginning of the subject line. If indeed this is a bug. It seems more like [Feedback] which is in a different Forum although the details I mentioned above would still be useful.
One last comment or two:
If you have been running a long time restart the client before the unknown time in question occurs. Then it might be possible to see if that helps or not. The information would be helpful to some poor soul stuck with figuring out the entrails you have left behind.
The second is several maps have problems. Skim Junction Skirmish has three Letter Objectives close together in the small industrial complex. With heavy firefights, many Mercs, many bullets flying and vehicles it tends to lag if you are in the center. That normally signals a restart of the game is important.
And! If you are getting really choppy audio that indicates memory problems and lag will surely follow. Restart DUST.
Good Luck. |

Rus Rhiannon wrote:I found this bug report and, well, it might be this is the same problem: https://forums.dust514.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=434556#post434556I experience this kind of "moving enemies jump three widths worth back and forth randomly when running" mostly during late hours my local time. Because the effect increases bit by bit, it's very much possible it's also a memory leak underneath. Sorry, what is your local time? GMT +- some number.
I would like to try and verify this and I am at GMT - 7 currently (daylight waste of time). Let me know what time I should give this a shot. Not that I want additional problems but some verification can help elevate this in importance to CCP/Shanghai ... hopefully.
Crap, I almost forgot. Is this happening on any specific map or all maps once the bad magic time period has started? |

Nice to have you check back in again. It has been awhile.
We have good news and not so good news regarding the lagging issue.
The Battle Finder will, on occasion, decide to move a battle to a different regional server than where it originated. Which sounds good but in practice will give the results you described. Entire squads and, indeed, teams get lagged out. The groups I play with just Leave Battle in mass when it happens. There is nothing to do about it except to not get moved to a slow regional server.
CCP uses their EVE based server architecture and while it does work fairly well with EVE it does have Time Dilation as a feature. For the MMO portion of their universe it is a marvel of engineering, which is a personal opinion.
For the FPS portion of the game the server architecture is a little sluggish in my view. The solution appears to drive everybody to a persistent and consistent slow ping rate of ~160 to 200ms (if I recall correctly). That shows up in the getting shot around corners issue where you see the Red, they fire and you back up immediately but still get killed even though you are behind cover. The delay allowed them to kill you while you were moving away. Whether you were actually behind cover is another issue but it is something that certainly needs addressing.
Now, add to the standard slow pings the effect of moving to a regional server with even longer ping times. Insta-Lag (tm) and it effects everybody that got moved as the architecture doesn't appear to adjust to a faster ping solution which might alleviate the lag.
My suggestion: Leave Battle. Try again.
Sorry, that is the best solution that I have. |
