Imho, AV nades are themost unbalanced thing in this game. The ability to afflict massive damage that homes in on the target is just ridiculous, put it with a Nanohive and hide behind something and you have the easiest weapon to kill vehicles with.
It makes me ask the question, if the guys who designed the Swarm Launcher wanted maximum damage, why not just stuff it with AV grenades instead of those missiles?
Honestly, when I ask AV players what they use to take out tanks, their first weapon of choice is usually AV Nades over Forge Guns and Swarms, is that right? I mean, you'd think that AV grenades would be more of a sidearm for scaring tanks away but it doesn't scare them, it destroys them with ease.
But this was a question, that's my view, what about you? |

Like I said, more opinions, tis not about me and what I think, I've already stated my unmoving opinion about AV nades.
For some of the statements I'll address them.
Some of the better shield tanks have about 6-7000hp (Around this HP you probably have a max of 15%, 30% or 0% additional resists)
Some of the better armor tanks have about 10,000hp but I rarely drive a armor tank to actually be anything other than a glass cannon.
In my shield tank with around 6500, I take about 1300 damage per standard AV grenade In my armor tank (around 5000 armor) I will die in 3 AV nades.
So to the guy who said move off? In an armor tank thats near enough impossible, if you stop you are ******. By the time they've tossed two standard AV grenades, your Armor tank has lost about 4000 armor (don't forget that added bonus due to explosives). A shield tank will move faster but if you try to activate your actives you'll probably die in that situation.
To the guy who asked why am I so close to someone with AV nades? It's not by choice that I'm by someone with AV nades, I maintain a distance on the majority of my targets, when all of a sudden, boom. I look around as I begin to move to see someones head pop up and another AV grenade come flying to me, this is about 5 seconds. I reverse, I carry on firing. I'm dead as I try to run away because I didn't instinctively run away immediately. Other times you don't even see the AV nader.
Also, your comment about the Ammo? I use AV nades too, anyone who isn't an idiot will have a nanohive with their AV nades or atleast someone else who has a nanohive. Pop it down near the tank while its firing on your buddies and launch two grenades before it even realises? Well you've already got another 3 AV nades ready to go just incase he activates his hardeners or reps, but he's probably dead already.
A reasoning for AV nades being strong such as "BUT THE FREE LAVS ARE ABLE TO KILL ME!" is such a poor excuse for them, In another thread I discussed the removal of Free Starter Fits which included the removal of the LAV and the replies were pretty much "BUT ALL THE FREE POINTS ARE NEEDED!!!111" You cannot blame the free starter LAV when the majority of AV players that use swarms and forges actually want them around for free points. |
