So i was doing a skirmish when I decided "oh hey I'm gonna try doing a back flip ". My first attempt I used a viper and barely succeeded. The second time I did it I failed crashing the viper into the ground so I thought to myself "it will probably be easier with afterburners" so I pull out my Myron and it did become a lot easier. After the flip the dropship quickly descends so it helps a lot to activate the afterburners once the landing gear is facing the ground again.
Anyone else doing/trying tricks in dropships? If so feel free to share the details of your tricks and or crashes. |

Tried doing a barrel roll in a viper. It was a complete failure, of course and there's no practical application I can think of for it, but that doesn't mean I won't keep trying. :P |

I jumped out of a drop ship near the top of the flight ceiling in a skirmish map. I was going to try to surf the ship then jump back in and fly away at the last minute.
Instead my character got shot by one of the missiles the MCCs shoot at each other the second I hit the circle button. Without a pilot the drop ship coasted to the ground and burned. |

maybe not the most effective method but you could probably do a barrel roll to prevent one of your gunners from dying lmao |

i think the closest thing to that i have done is switch from the pilot seat to the gunner seat mid flight then mashed triangle till i was back in the pilot seat lol |

Flips are easier especially with afterburners, i do them whenever i get bored or feel like showing off, barrel rolls have never gone well for me, only time i tried it i scraped a roof, knocked a friendly sniper off it and crashed |

Not in a drop ship, but I have a few places on maps that I can consistently get aileron rolls in a Saga. I've yet to land a kick flip. But when I do, you guys will see that **** on Youtube. |

What happensif somebody jumps out when you still have upward momentum? Can you project people above the flight ceiling? |

I've thrown myself onto buildings which were just above the flight ceiling.
This was before I had afterburners, though, because now I just start from the ground and boost into the flight ceiling to land on things like the MCC and tall buildings... but I'll abandon ship at the height of this boost when I get home tonight. |

The dropship doesn't have wings, so you can't do a proper aileron roll in it.
The maneuver requires a varying degree of inverted flight which a dropship is incapable of. As you go over the top of the roll you point your nose in the sky to get lift from the top of the wing to keep the plane up, but when inverted the dropship is thrusting down, not up. There is no way to get negative thrust when you are inverted.
On the other hand the ship should be capable of some maneuvers impossible to perform in a winged craft. I shall have to pull out my aerobatic books and see what translates and come up with new standard maneuvers.
Then we can have a competition and judge via recorded videos. |

The view glitches a bit for us pilots but otherwise its awesome, only time i've done i took off in a random pub match and a blueberry landed on top of me, we looked awesome doing strafing runs with his AR, but then forge guns started shooting i activated afterburners and he... well he just disappeared |

well...many dropships later i have manage to pull off front flips and barrel rolls but the back flip is still my most used trick . However i have manage to combine the back flip and barrel roll into an evasive maneuver. If i see swarms heading straight for me i use the after burners then when i see i have sufficient upward momentum i flip my DS so its roof is facing the ground then i roll so the thrusters are facing the ground again. This helps me to change direction pretty quickly and im a pretty hard target to hit i think.
if anyone knows the name of the maneuver i have described let me know and maybe give a link to it |

 That's really something that make me consider using dropship. Too bad last time I took one I ended up dead 50 feet from takeoff. Will try some tricks with afterburner later this week ahah. |

Nah I have lots to do, but I decided I needed a bit of a break. Nice to take a step back for a bit before looking at it all again. I am actually a bit scared of how much I have to do... O_O |
