CominRound TheMountain wrote:Here are a list of bugs and poorly implemented gameplay as I encountered tonight. These didn't just happen once, they've been constant for this past week, but this new player has finally hit his breaking point. Disclosure: I'm fully aware this is beta, so your "soon TM" or "it's beta" is pointless as a response.
- Map variety. I played 10 games tonight. Every single one of them I got on Manus Peak. Every single one. Sure you can spice it up with being at daytime or night time or desert, or whatever, but Manus Peak 10 times, is Manus Peak 10 times.
- Inability to reload. Seriously. How am I supposed to shoot people, the "S" in FPS if I can't reload my weapon. That's kind of a gamebreaking bug.
- Unusable fittings. I exit the game, come back in, all my fittings are broke. If you don't check them (as I have learned to do now because they break at least once a day) then you go into a game, and can't spawn immediately because all your fittings are broke, and while your team is running out to cap stuff, or your enemies are trying to attack you, you have to sit there and fix all your fittings. You can fix the dropsuits with a bit of work, but if you don't have a spare LAV part, you cannot fix the starter LAVs, so you're basically SOL.
- I have no hands. I'm not sure why. I have no hands. I honestly haven't even ever seen them once. Do they exist outside of your merc quarter? If this isn't a bug, and is indeed a feature, then this is odd to have just a pistol floating in mid air, or while you run.
- Push to talk. This is an option, yet doesn't work even remotely close to 20%? Really? Why not just not have the option?
- Matchmaking system. Find it really hard to believe that the solution to pitting veteran squads (most of the time multiple veteran squads) is to just remove randoms from being in their own squads. Come on CCP, figure it out. New players have absolutely NO chance against veterans in the current state. It's not fun for new players, it's not fun for veterans. It makes people resort to sniping from the redline. How is that fun for anyone?
- Tanks. This goes with my above point a bit, but new players in starter fit Anti-Vehicle cannot take out Advanced tanks, no matter how many of them you have shooting that SoB. Cannot happen, will not happen. If there are semi-competent tank drivers on the other team, (again, usually more than 1), your team is severely handicapped unless you happen to have some veteran players that have a good A/V dropsuit, and even then you might be screwed.
- Mappable buttons. Come on, we're stuck with some terrible default controls here. Whoever thought the R2 wheel was good should be fired immediately. That system is terrible.
- Lag. This needs no explanation. Lag kills people. People stop playing on servers that are laggy, people stop playing GAMES that are laggy.
- Open Beta itself. I fully realize this is open beta, as I said in my disclaimer above. You know how many bad impressions you're creating with gamers by having so many gamebreaking bugs? People see the open beta sign, but it doesn't sink all the way in. If you make a bad impression on people now, they'll leave, and a majority (not all) won't bother trying it again once the "open beta" tag comes off. Don't believe me? Ask all the PC games that have gotten kicked in the nards by bad reviews/bad betas.
This is all I can think of for now, but this player of 2 weeks is seriously contemplating quitting, because I already work 60 hours a week, I come home and I game to relax with my wife. Nothing about these past 2 weeks have been fun. We stick it out, well, mainly because she is super persistent, but because there truly is promise here. But are you going to lose everyone before you ever realize that potential? There's threads all over these boards about things that are wrong with the game, bugs, things people would like to see, people getting bored with the same thing, no incentives for corp battles, vets getting tired of pubstomping, etc etc. Ask yourself this GMS/Devs, if you were a new bright-eyed excited player to come to this relatively untouched genre (futuristic shooter), and you came in to these bugs I listed, and the posts on these forums, would you be excited? Would you? Do something about the things driving players like me away, or you won't have many players left to worry about.
I've been here for pretty much a year now and have seen this game devolve into a pile of crap. I agree with many of the points you have listed. Keep fighting the good fight OP. |
