Yes, I watched and was impressed. I think they have the advantage in the current "Next-gen" which (I think) is good news for DUST.
Let's be straight -- DUST is in its infancy and has the potential to be a lifelong game like no other (unless you play EVE).
PS4 looks like a better platform than any out there.... even better than PC. That is impressive, and indicates that CCP made the right bet. While it may not have the hardware of a top of the line gaming PC, it has built in functionality for gaming that will actually surpass the PC in certain ways.
I'm excited that my gaming is going to go up a notch in the next year or two. |

Watched almost the whole conference, needless to say I'm excited about this console.
And yes, Dust 514 will definitely come out on PS4. I believe devs already stated this to be in their future plans. |

This may be from a dream I had rather than reality, but I swear that Sony and Microsoft have both been preaching affordability and being under the $500 price range. |

Tried watching the stream from the beginning but there was some major technical issues with the stream, so I figured I would wait until it was over and download it. Nothing is worse than a crappy stream.
Is it over yet? Been like 4 hours now.

CCP had to have know about the ps4. I think the question is if they have the resources to utilize it. The poor game we have now doesn't give me much hope. |

You mean the $147 Gamestop will give me for my PS3 slim, 1TB HDD and 35+ games? lol Great Value.
Besides, I don't see why people trade in their consoles for the newer ones. Keep your old consoles, they are valuable, plus the memories and collection is always something nice to have. |

Watched it, ign stream was bad, home stream didn't work but the ps blog one was top notch.
Keep your PS3 if you want to have backwards compatibility because PS4 won't have it until Gai-Kia is able to stream those games, who knows if you have to repurchase them or what.
2 hrs and it was pretty much all about ps4 watched ign after yo hear what they had to say about it, they did a decent job covering it. |

The dev kits for the PS4 were available to devs last year, they got the 2nd release at the beginning of this year. I have a feeling that this beta is really a play test for the actual Dust 514 on the PS4.
The thing I was very surprised about was them going with an x86 processor! Why? Why not go with x64? The system is limited to 8G of ram because of this design choice, probably a decision by the accountants rather than the developers...
Either way Dust is going to be awesome! I trust CCP totally yo get it right, but its going to be soon(TM) |

Yea but its better quality ram, i think Its GDDR so its a bit more optimized. However im starting to feel a bit pessimistic, I heard a lot of cool ideas and i feel like theres all my favorite games in PS4. But you know what MS is no slouch and they have the hearts and minds of the consumer right now, whether we like it or not. So that will be something Sony needs to overcome.
As for Dust. Hate to break it to everyone but if the game doesnt take a serious leap forward SoonGäó it will struggle if Destiny hit the market and takes off in the way people expect.
I mean Dust's saving grace is that its F2P so it can quietly build its way up to where it wants over the years but it will be hard convincing consumers to stick with it, it will be more of a visit, play a bit and leave type game rather than go to first thing i want to play each time i turn on my console game. Idk maybe its just burnout talking but i dont see a lot of good in Dust's future if it doesnt take the next leap soon and certainly by PS4 release. |

The limit you're thinking of is actually 4GB, so from the fact that there's already 8GB in the console, the architecture wasn't really a factor. Was "x86" a misquote or oversimplification for the press conference? Did they actually mean x86-64, the AMD designed 64 bit specification? Do I even know what I am talking about? Who knows!
8GB is what they decided was the most cost-effective amount of memory to be able to reliably cram onto the motherboard or whatever blah blah technobabble
it is still a kittenload of memory (for a console), although game developers always want more
I was honestly surprised it was more than 4gb |

Yup you are spot on I was thinking of the 4G limit, I think 8G is probably enough, but still think that if it really is a x86 processor its an odd decision.
EDIT:
Found it
its is an 64bit CPU YAY

So many great games coming! New Killzone, Infamous, and other interesting looking stuff like Watchdogs (wow, love the idea behind this one, because that is actually exactly where we are heading... IPv6 anybody? Everybody and everything has an IP address? Yup, someday! ) and Destiny should be a nice addition to the FPS collection based on Bungies experience.
Seriously doubt I will be an early adopter, not only because of financial reasons, but we all know what happens to early adopters of consoles (and most other technology). YLOD anybody? Overheating?
Will keep an eye on the PS4, may never get it, who knows. Just depends on how much unnecessary crap Sony decides to jam down our throats (DRM stuff). |

BTW, here is likely the best live-streaming recording on youtube (doesn't have the buffering/skipping problems everybody else got, including me). It runs from start to finish almost perfectly (I saw only one point where it buffered for a few seconds, but that was it).

The ram is however shared between the CPU and GPU, and likely they both have high-speed access to it. This means that games for this architecture can be highly optimized. |

Anyway AMD have very very goo GPU architecture which is very important. |

I caught the highlights, skipped ahead over some bits that didn't interest me, like Diablo and that racing game. Infamous looked cool, Killzone looked bland in the extreme, not sure what was going on with Destiny (or why they needed 4 people on stage so that only 1 of them could talk about it). Watchdogs still looks way too scripted
The streaming feature is interesting, the interconnected facebook/media bullsit does not. I don't care if my friends are stuck in a game, I'm not likely to go and watch them play from home or take over for them, or vice-versa, nor do I care what game my friend just downloaded.
Don't care much for the new controller or its touchpad, even less for the camera thing, because most likely I'll have no room to set it up properly with my setup anyway.
Overall, a resounding "meh" from me, with the occasional "huh" of an interest. Will also likely cost a fortune, so I won't be buying until either my ps3 is dead or I have to upgrade to play Dust.
But then I'm a cynical bastard anyway. |
