Everyone has been complaining OP on anti vehicle weapons I have even had my time on the forums to complain. This idea however, isn't necessarily because I am claiming something is over powered but to offer more variety and strategy when it comes to anti, anti weapons and modules. One module would be the forge gun resistance plate for shield and armor variants it would block out the high damage of a forge gun through blocking whatever kind of damage a forge gun dishes out. Another one would be the swarm launcher denial system carried by all classes and tanks. Player would look for incoming missiles, lock on to them through a rectangle locking system, and fire. This would hit the missiles destroying them before they hit a vehicles or instillation, other modules for anti swarm launcher would be a machine gun type weapon that blows the missiles up before they hit there target, or a laser version of it that hits missiles before impact. I know one that has been discussed as well is the drop ship anti flare system which would allow you to take missiles off you, this would be good for drop ships because there armor and shields are something like 3 to 1 of a tank. Of course these weapons and mods would come at a price they would be a players primary weapon making fighting against infantry extra hard, or for vehicles take up a module that could be required for PG, CPU or more needed for Speed, Damage, Armor tank, or Shield tank. This would keep these weapons and modules balanced from being spammed and make vehicle support classes less of a dream and more of a reality.
Here is a situation:
Logistic carries a repair tool for his friends armor tank and helps repair over 1000 damage dealt by the enemy saving his friends tank. He also carries an anti swarm launcher fit that shoots down missiles before they hit his friends tank. The tank is also carrying a an anti forge gun module that is helping tank over half the damage from the forge gunner. The logistics however get rushed by an infantry assault and shot dead without the help the tank is quickly overwhelmed and killed.
I think this is mainly a good idea because you don't see a lot of tanks rolling together and supporting each other its sort of just a rush in and stack kills then die loosing an expensive vehicle. I have never seen anyone use shields reps on there friends vehicle so I think these weapons would be great. |

That's more for dealing with the anti unit him self but not against blocking his damage or supporting a friends tank. That's why they could implement flairs, anti forge gun shield and armor, etc etc... |

Nah, don't like it.
Chaff available for all vehicles would be fine. It throws off the lock but the missiles keep going in the same direction, so you have to move after deploying the chaff or the missiles will still hit you. That is all that is needed for anti-swarm and honestly forge guns really aren't that big a problem because it's so easy to keep away from a big fat guy who moves like a snail. |

Eris.. stop bumping yourself.
second, USE PUNCTUATION PROPERLY.
third, AV gear for the most part only hurts Vehicles, as in purpose made to make the cars and tanks and ships take massive damage. there is nothing 'overpowered' about them, because they dont hurt people directly, they cant lock onto the little infantrymen. so no worries about that |

This little flair that knocks out my swarms, what is it? Is it a side arm, or equipment module? Doesn't really matter. Do you honestly think that anybody would be fine with losing their main weapon, when all somebody has to sacrifice is their sidearm/equipment slot to counter it?
Now if it's a main weapon... then it's useless. There is no middle ground here.

An interesting idea.... I'd rather they just expand upon the current system though. If forge and swarm are different dmg types, then let there be spcific modules you can fit to reduce the dmg of that dmg type. Right now i only see omni restance stuff in the market place. I'd imagine it would be alot easier to add a module than code for a complex anti weapon system. |

the writing is fine its not hard to read, ah sorry didn't know there was a rule against bumping doesn't seem to be a major issue... |

I have been listening to the up and coming and I feel the devs will be meeting our hunger for new content. This wasn't an op thread but a new content thread as I feel everyone would like to see new content =) ^_^. Hopefully you guys can see the strategy and diversity modules like this would have. |

Then why do people use swarm launchers they have no real main weapon to fight off infantry so your saying swarms are pointless too? Friend would shoot down swarms, rep his friends tank, and even more mods could be implemented for support etc.. etc.. They are always working on new content so it's not impossible to say something like this will never be implemented. |

Tanks are a threat to everybody, swarms are only a threat to tanks... and LAV's.
If you had time to redirect the missiles, then you had time to kill the guy launching said missiles. They're either OP, because they make the tanks invincible, or essentially useless, because there are far more effective alternatives.
Most people who complain about AV being OP usually have bad fits. It takes multiple people to bring down a good tank. |

It's not exactly true that a swarmer is only a threat to vehicles. The smg is a wonderful weapon and most people are too impatient, so they will close the range gap for you or you can use some tactics to close it. The sidearm can be very deadly when you put the sp into it. The swarmers just aren't as effective at killing infantry as if you put all that sp into an actual high weapon, so we only bring out the expensive fits if a vehicle is worth the isk.
My normal fit is a buffer scout with swarms, smg, and locus. I may die alot, but i'll also take alot with me. When I put dmg mods on, or use av grens, I am sacrificing survivability for more dmg and thats a choice, but by no means do I have to do it and make myself into a paper target. It's just easier to annoy or kill the vehicle if i'm paper thin.
The only fit that is completely useless to infantry is the logi with a swarm. |
