Check out how much ISK the capsulleers are betting here: http://eve-bet.com/Betting/BrowseEvent.aspx?eventId=180
I need the participating teams to list their person of contact here. We are going to use the next 4 days to get everyone sorted and clear the first round of matches.
I also need CEOs to mail Kane Spero a 3 to 5 sentence summary of your corporation. These will be used in upcoming articles and betting posts.
****************** MATCH RESULTS MUST BE SUBMITTED (clear picture of the scoreboard or link to a recording of the match) TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CCP AND COMMUNITY PRIZES. -Email [email protected] or evemail Kane Spero with links. To size of attachments cannot exceed 20 MB! ******************
The preliminary schedule for the days each match will fall on is as follows ( expect this to be updated and have specific times added but it should be close) (TIMES indicated the EARLIEST and LATEST time a match can be scheduled:)
Remember this is a range of times to schedule. It doesn't mean you have to wake up at the crack of dawn EST.

Stu Podasso wrote:It looks like round one is beyond salvage. Have you considered, as the organizer of the tourney, arbitrarily setting a time for each match the rest of the tournament? Set them now without knowing who fills the bracket to give the illusion of fairness and impartiality. It would also be nice for those of us who actually need a little heads up about when the heck we are expected to be here for a match.
Yeah, I'm going to be looking at having more set times moving forward. I'll need corp reps to get in touch with me with their times. I'm also going to be pulling more people on board behind the scenes to help. |

I appreciate how on the ball some of the corps have been, but I really feel that in retrospect the schedule was too fluid. I will be setting up solid times for matches to be played that will still have some flexibility and try ensure that the progress of the tournament is more transparent. |

No worries, my apologies for all the confusion. This is going to result in one heck of a feedback write-up. |

SoLJae wrote:Kain, do you still have Betamax in reserve in case one of these last few remaining corps can't get it together?
I ultimately hope that nobody gets cast off, unnecessarily.
However, I bet the boyz and girlz in Betamax would be ready to roll and they surely would add to the stiff competition that already exists in this tourny.
just askin'
Yes, Betamax is still going to be in place as a Wildcard in case one of the corps cannot schedule their matches with this time extension. If any other corps would like to be considered for being a wildcard please mail Kane Spero. |

The reason for throwing the tourney was to bring attention to Dust especially from the Eve side of things and promote the game and to create some excitement and focus within the Dust community.
http://community.eveonline.com/news/newsFromEve.asp?newsTitle=dust-514-eve-bombardment-tournament-round-2-this-weekend
Right now we are in a holding pattern WAITING for Faction Warfare to be improved and Nullsec to be established. A lot of people are having build fatigue and looking for something to do. If the tourney helps create drive for people playing the game then there you go.
I guess the real question is WHY NOT arrange a tournament. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what the community can do by working together. If certain organizations want to remain outside of participating in the community that's fine. Multiple people have approached me wanting to do their own events once this tournament has concluded and that's awesome. I've purchased the domain NewEdenSports.com and will be looking to have the community come together so that more events like this will be possible.
The community has sponsored over $100 worth of prizes for the event and that doesn't event touch on what CCP has sponsored as well.
Eve has really turned some eyes onto this game because of the tourney and I have something special planed for this weekend to really tie things together with the Tourney and the OB Events. As it stands the total betting pools for the tournament has surpassed 3 Billion ISK. The ISK grand prize for the Closed Beta Tournament run by CCP was 250 Million ISK.
You can choose to sit on the sidelines and wait for life to happen or you can get off the bench, get in the thick of it, and do everything in your power to improve the situation and create excitement where it may be lacking. I 'm happy that over 2,000 Mercs across over a dozen corporations have decided to participate in this tournament. They have put in tons of time to get their teams together, work on scheduling matches, and go the extra mile by placing videos out there to show people competitive play in Dust. I'm just glad that they have allowed me to help things along, because it's the Mercs on they ground and the community that is responsible for the true success of this event not me. |

slap26 wrote:First off, I would like to thank Kain/Kane Spero for getting this tourney going a lot of good corps sat this tourney out (IMP, IE, KEQ, SI, and RND just to name a few) hopefully in future tournaments we can get more participation And lets face it this player driven event was put together better then CCP's tournament
I asked for the IMP , IE , and Swarm guys to sit this one out since I'm making decisions on the tourney and arbitrating disputes.
Plus, I'm guessing some corps wouldn't have fought if they knew they might have to face Imperfects in a non-consensual engagement.
On a side note I've posted new time for matches that would extend the time for the next set of matches and put the finals to their own weekend. |

Teams were giving an open schedule and a deadline and it resulted in the initial mess that was round one. Teams have been free to schedule matches before the designated times as well. I will agree with you that scheduling has been the most difficult part.
Many time the issue isn't "Do you have 8 people on who can fight?". The issue is whether the teams field the right eight people given their opponent. I've found that the more open times end up leading to a lot of metagaming as well with teams working towards times that are best for their troops but worse for their opponent. It can be a very difficult balance.
If terms of addressing issues with people's times across the world, I think Southern Legion can attest to them being accommodated and being worked with in regards to their time zone issues. There is never a perfect solution with a game that is everywhere like Dust, but we can always strive to do the best that we can.
I'm looking forward to getting New Eden Sports set up so that scheduling can benefit from having a system that has a little more automation put into the process. |

There have been challenges and it has been a true learning experience, but I hope the tourney can serve as a source of feedback that can really help to improve the game in the future in terms of competitive play.
The region for the final is Placid. The system will be announced in the faction specific Dust OB channels. |

Congratulations to Pink Fluffy Bounty Hunterz for their final victory in the Dust Open Beta Tournament!
The fight over and on Evaulon 7 District 13 was awesome. While SVER True Blood and PFBHz fought on the ground below over 300 pilots took part in the skies.
Even though PFBHz's Rise of Legion orbital support fleet was outnumbered and outgunned, it was able to break through STB's Unclaimed defensive fleet long enough to fire an orbital bombardment salvo. The pilot who shot was destroyed shortly afterwards.
On the ground both sides fight hard. The battle concluded with STB's MCC being destroyed with 15 clones remaining. PFBHz had 75 clones and 8 ticks of armor remaining.
I'll begin reviewing all of the submissions and entries. Once I have finished I will announce all of the winners for all of the prizes |
