I have recently begun playing, and this is a fun BETA. It is advertised as a beta, and very much is, but there is still some problems that need to be brought to attention.
Gameplay Problems:
[ Terrible Recoil on Guns ] This is something that recently became a trend in modern shooters, is the absolute ridiculously low amount of recoil. I haven't tried using the shotguns with this yet, but the assault rifles and SMGs have horrid recoil, making the require next to no skill to use. The SMGs I do not mind so much, but since they are the primary weapon of the medics, a majorly underused class due to the fact that you have practically no way of defending yourself against anybody with a gun other than an SMG. This no longer becomes a matter of personal preference, of liking games with guns that have good recoil, this becomes a matter of balance. Assault rifles should kick a LOT. I would even like to see this made into a gameplay element, with there being dropsuit upgrades or specialized weapons that reduce recoil. At the current state though, assault rifles are far too easy to use for that they are the main damage-dealing weapon, and in their current state, are very much "spray and pray" weapons at anything below medium-range.
[ Weak Magnetism ] The magnetism in this game is way too weak. Magnetism was originally made in the first Halo as a way to make it not near impossible to actually hit a target that is moving at a decent speed with console controls, but not use methods like Goldeneye 007's auto-aim, where your weapon would automatically point at those near you. Halo still has magnetism perfected, but other games seem to struggle with it. Games like Call of Duty have far too strong of magnetism, you can simply point at the general direction of a target, and your crosshair gravitates toward the target, and tracks it rather effectively automatically, while games such as this don't have it close to strong enough. I looked in the options, and saw that "aim assist" option, and was shocked in the first place that this game had magnetism in the first place. I have had far too many moments playing as a medic when somebody with an assault rifle pops around the corner, and we spray at each other, both wasting a full clip of each of our weapons without hitting each other at all. Please note that when I say "The magnetism needs to be stronger," I do not mean CoD style aim in the general direction, I just mean make it a bit easier to hit things in a pinch. It is frustrating when you can't hit a moving target due to your crosshair always being half an inch off of it.
[ Medics ] This is a large problem. A lot of the game hinges on teamwork, with medics being very important in that. Yet, playing as a medic is essentially condemning yourself to be killed a massive amount of times without being able to have a large effect yourself. It is a very vicious cycle, people don't play medic classes due to the weak weapons, and often inability to help those who are too far away, nobody ever calls for help when downed due to the small amount of medics, and then less people play medics, and the cycle repeats. Medics need something to help them, anything really.
[ Weapon Switching ] A minor annoyance, but still a problem. When switching weapons, you have to have your right analog stick pointed directly at it. It would be easier to just flick to weapons if instead you only had to point in the section that weapon's slot occupies, rather than directly at it. |
