The aiming in this game still sucks, it's not as bad as KZ2 was when it first came out, but there is similarities. Some players pick up on it very quickly and have no problem aiming in the least (these are the players that dominate in the game), while others take quite a bit of time to adjust to it... but even then it still feels wrong for a lot of us after months of practice.
The biggest tell if a game has less than ideal aiming, is if players are using the strafe to get an accurate bead on their target. I find I am strafe aiming all the time, I aim in on somebody as best I can with the right stick, then move the left stick until it gets on them and go from there. Because by strafe aiming, I can get very fine adjustments without having to baby the right stick in a way not natural for FPS games on consoles.
I run with a 0-0 sensitivity, yet it still feels far too fast for small adjustments. Unless I strafe aim, I overshoot my targets and short-shoot them quite often. Every now and then I will get into the 'zone' and be able to aim spot-on no problems at all, but this doesn't happen as frequently as I like. Even if there was a lower sensitivity, my turning speed already is very slow, most heavies can turn faster than I do, which is a HUGE disadvantage if I am being shot from behind.
However I do find if I 'relax' a little on the sticks and be less impulsive with my aiming, and take a split second longer to finesse the stick, I can do fairly well in terms of aim control. Sometimes I forget that flicking the sticks in a game with aiming such as Dust, is very counter-productive. As a FPS gamer all my life, twitch aiming has been all I have known. If I don't panic in a intense situation where me and another are going at it, I can pull off a win almost effortlessly... but if I panic and start flicking the sticks all over the place, I get dominated.
I'll give you a little tip to help your aim, turn off the controller vibration. Vibration is fun and all, but it does more harm than good when it comes to precise aiming while shooting or being shot.
