SoTa and his friends aren't actually interested in clearing the air or resolving the issue. They're interested in winning an argument. In doing so, they're going to muddy the issue and conflate ideas to the point where there's pages and pages of vomit all over the forums. I notice that no one is posting on SoTa's behalf except for his corpmates. They're running around as a pack, trying to win the argument by spinning anything that's said. As long as you engage with them, you're only helping to provide them with ammo to try to justify their position, which they change as it's convenient. Then they'll upvote each other and backslap and cheer.

The point is that they are a group that obviously doesn't have anyone willing to challenge their opinions from within, so it's unlikely that you or anyone will be able to challenge their opinions from without. They say there are no personality barriers in their corp, without realizing that giving everyone a license to asshattery is a personality barrier by itself, since anyone with half a mind for reasonable discourse would stay far away from that kind of crap.

The good news is, this is New Eden, and corps like theirs show up all the time. They might dominate the forums for a while, and they might even dominate the leaderboards, but they have nothing else that makes them cohere. Sooner or later, they'll implode, just like every other group that had their same approach.

And when the fail cascade begins, and the rats start to flee the sinking ship, they'll want to come to a corp like Subdreddit or Southern Legion that will be dominating the game with HBC or CFC. All you need to do is remember names.

Because this is New Eden. Reputation and personality matter.

Then i read it a few times guess what i realized. There is only one actual reference to something that "could" be considered racist and thats the correlation about arabs and their part in 9/11 which well is factually evident. In fact he never actually says anything deragatory about any ethnicity or race other than black people in africa and being ashy which since he's black he can implicitly has right to self-depricate much in the way i can joke that im the type of indian that's red dot and not feather. Point is he put in the title that's racist, said lets let out our own inner racists, use the buzzwords Jew, Arab, Black and white and you yourself let your own associations do the rest. That is a brilliant troll imo and though perhaps inflammatory in nature never ACTUALLY said anything DEROGATORY about any of those ethnicities other than mentioning them. Unfortuantely its edited so noone can re-read but to break down the troll.... He used the word racist in the topic, "lets let out your inner racist" in the body, used four groups as buzzwords and the only possible actual "prejudiced" remark he made was linking arabs to terrorism but actually didnt since it wasnt a generalization but specific to 9/11 and not as all being terrorist, the only way he could have been more specific in that example is he said Saudi's. Basically everyone else forgot to let go of their blinders, let the buzzwords and the term racism override their reading comprehension and immediately went ("pitchforks and fire" i refrained from using a common euphemism here as it may be deemed insensitive to African Americans who endured the real thing during jim crow era.) In fact we let out our own biases and associations in and interpreted racists remarks were said about 4 selected groups, because we are so pre-programmed now to reject racism as something vile that the very word will cause us to band together without thought or comprehension. We hear the word racist and we don't even bother to check if it is actually occuring (because nobody would throw out such a vile and hated accusation without cause right?) I dont endorse racism but i didnt ACTUALLY SEE REAL RACIST REMARKS IN THAT THREAD. Honestly one could take the response to the thread and thought the intentions of the community were appropriate in the face of real racism, but it can show how simply using the word "racism" can override an otherwise intelligent group of people into a frenzy and act on emotion rather than reason. It show how much we have become conditioned as a society, but thats a different topic altogether.

But i get it its easy to play the wounded victim card rather than admit you were being self-righteous in a situation where it wasn't warranted under the guise of standing up for something that though should be attacked with fierce vigor(racism and homophobia) when it simply wasn't called for because you missed the sarcasm and satire of the user posts. Ive tried explaining too many times already how perceptions can influence one cognitive function and bias them to a conclusion with just a few keywords that when taken out of context cause false misinterpretation or in this case complete denial that they might have been too eager to stand up to a hatred that simply doesn't exist. Consider this my last post on the matter, if you are truly offended stil well i will offer my apology as it truly isnt my intention to spread or defend hate.

And no one is posting on Sota's behalf because they are too cowardly to admit they all jumped the gun on the thread and didnt actually read it, ive laid it out clearly the psychology that led the backlash. Of course nobody wants to touch that, better to label me and sota bigots and move on.
