You mean a slow moving, relatively highly armoured (somewhere between HAV and LAV) troop transport that can move troops from point A to point B?
I'm not sure how much it would add to the game, a Dropship does the same but moves that much faster and I Imagen for balance it would be just as quick and probably less risky to run the distance than have 6 guys in a slow moving troop transport.
I would prefer CCP spend there time bringing in more integration between EvE and Dust that introduce new vehicles that bring a minimal addition to the game.

ATVs / APCs (2 squads transport capacity)
Speeder bikes (fast single man transport and scout)
Bombers (Ground attack role)
Fighter jets (air interceptor role)
Gun ships (attack helicopter role)
Larger air transports (bomber, transport, air fortress)
Ground command vehicles (command apcs)
Mechs (cus they are cool)
Artillery
I dunno if thats it all, but yes I agreed. Its obvious stuff really so Im sure its on the devs to do list.
There is concept art of vehicles not in the game yet, somewhere.

You can increase the number of Marines in until 8. Besides, this crap will move on the ground, which is slightly better than flying, though it has its disadvantages, too |

Planetside 2 has an APC that can carry like 10 dudes and then deploy into a spawn point. They had similar vehicles in Templar One. |
