Of course there are no pre made images of the weapon I am thinking of so I will try my best to post pictures and accurately describe it the rest is filling in the attributes of the weapon like direct damage, splash, etc etc.
So I was thinking of CCP implementing a new weapon it would be of course called the grenade launcher. It would be a light weapon that performed something like a mass driver but instead it would would only hold 1 shot then have to reload. Weapons like the mass driver aren't to good because they have to hit there target many times to kill them, many shots can simply be splash damage and not direct hits, making a 1 clip grenade launcher pointless. The alternative to fixing this flaw is the damage, the grenade launcher would hold enough damage to kill a player in one shot. This would mainly apply to recon and assault suits because of there low shield and armor.
The weapon would be a charge gun the more charge the faster it would be ejected and the more damage it would inflict on its target. Less charge would send it vertically flying making it more like a low power mass driver being able to curve over objects. As you can see this could be a very strategical weapon for walls but also damaging. A full charge from the grenade launcher would send it straight forward turning it more into a gun for players in front of you. The problem however is that a one shot light weapon which isn't a side arm weapon wouldn't be efficient enough. Players would probably just charge a player who used a grenade launcher, with only one shot he would have to charge under fire and then while paniced try and line up a good shot that would probably injure him self and only scratch the enemy. The fix to this is by making the grenade launcher a side arm weapon not only would the player be able to hold a primary weapon he would also be able to hold a smaller strategical high power weapon. There are very little side arm weapons and this would give players an extra edge it would also be nice because not all suits can use the side arm weapon and not all variants can carry it. Making it more specialized and rare and not something that would be spammed on the battle field.
When fully charge a blue laser is directed straight ahead until it hits an object this would be area of impact spot When only charged to an amount it would be more of an vertical shots curving in the air until it hit a point on the ground.
When reloading you see a player put a grenade into the launcher then click something on the gun that locks it in place

Of course making a gun takes a lot more ideas, information, and actual design in a game so I want to hear your ideas and feed back on this idea and help this gun actually get designed just not sit an idea. Lots of people in real life military and in games like battlefield 3 and call of dutys carry grenade launchers this isn't some far out idea its something people have been using in their games and in real life for a very long time. Implement a cool design and futuristic look for this grenade launcher then add something special about it and bam you have a new side arm weapon ;). |

did you actually get this from their upcoming list or are these ideas requested in feedback? also what do you think of the grenade launcher I like running around with my grenade launcher in battlefield 3 its an extra that i can pull out if i fire through my primary and secondary I think mercs would look this as a powerful back up weapon.

I like how the only reason why your calling this a bad idea is because your relating it to the call of duty noob tube this is obviously something different, its sad you couldn't realize that.
One this is a charge weapon not just point and click gun. Two it is a one shot fire side arm weapon not something that will be so op it can kill a heavy in one shot as you seem to think. Three if you miss damage would go into splash once again lowering damage unless players trained with this weapon to improve his accuracy. Four its a bit different the the noob tube because it can be used to shoot over walls, small charges sends it vertical and more or full charge sends it flying forward.

And Mass Drivers are not as bad as you claim. Naturally,u need some SKILLPOINTS in their usage. I keep getting the feeling people tend to ignore that whole concept when they complain about gear. Mass Drivers are tricky to use,especially when range is involved,but they can do major damage when used properly. I prefer using them in close quarters.The splash damage in tight corridors is a killer.
Thanks for the comment, I wasn't claiming they were bad I was saying how they can not always be 100 percent accurate resulting in more splash thus putting this design on a grenade launcher wouldn't be smart resulting in the need to up the damage because this weapon would only hold one shot. I guess you could view this gun as a one shot mass driver with very high damage but not over the top the weapon design of course would be very different. I am only suggesting it as a side arm because it wouldn't make a good enough primary but a good back up weapon. |
